What size wire re you running on car?

Only thing thagt draws any real power on car is trans brake and maybe little fan on transmission cooler on my deal, Most of my wiring is too big especially when compared to what I am wiring to. Figure can change few at a time and get most all of the oversized stuff out. Easier to run and fact 18awg is half the weight of 14 awg has nothing to do with it. Not that is that much when do every wire maybe pound and that might be a push. Mostly trying to clean up and make easier to trac e in case of.

Gauge wire are you running for most of car?

I rewired my car last winter with Digital Delay components, Grid, etc. 2 gauge for battery/power/ground.
Exactly what I ordered --- https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M...product_details&th=1

Every other wire is GXL wire. Except for some of the grid wiring, nothing smaller than 14ga. Grounds are all 12ga.

I used 14ga GXL, the insualtion makes a big difference in flexibility, much easier to work with. Buy a lot of colors, nothing more fun at the track then trying to help someone with an electrical problem and all of the wires are the same color. Then use a shrink tubing printer and label every wire.

Not saying K&R stuff not good just for my needs a waste of money. Have less than most guys to power up. No pumps, only one fan, delay box, lights couple solenoids and instruments. Plus can get all the wire I need for about 20 bucks, 10 bucks for ends and heat srink. Already have distribution blocks and fuse panel. About 10 colors at extreme. Now could use some labels.

Looking at going 90% of wiring in 18 AWG replace the 14 I have while reworking.

Having worked at a GM dealer for 34 years when they started putting the smaller gauge wiring in car that's when we started seeing vibration problems causing wires to break in random places. Something to think about.

I'm sure our race vehicles have much...much more vibration than passenger cars/trucks! Wink

My reasoning for why my wire is too heacvy(not weight wise). Why do I need 14 g wire attached to a piece that is wired with way smaller wire? Hell the old standard mushroon trans brake button comes wired with 18 or maybe less. Is going bigger between that and delay box going to do anything?

Not sure what draw is on trans brake.Would think it basically being dead short when engaged it would be highest in the car, well other than starter.

Yes I understand distance and load, Same as idiots that connect 200' of drop cord and burn up compressor on construction jobs> I see and cuss about that one all the time.

Just ordered 10 color kit of 18ga gxl wire. getting stuff together so can do ,lot of reworking come ungodly hot July and August down time. Will say that GXL rubs price up over mosagt others, Just taking advice from those here about it being best option. Now to find terminal ends that i do not have to remove plastic bs before soldering.

Not going to wire entire car just the low load sections of wiring. Will be upgrading some connections and style connectors.

I do not think wiring is the best place to save weight or money.

I use the K&R wiring kit because it is labeled and color coded. I believe most of it is 14 Ga?

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Same with Digital Delay. DD relay board also supports the electric shifter.
Last I read, K&R requires an external shift/RPM controller.

If shifting on rpm yes. They have the timers which I use. I have air shifter and use timer for solenoid. I also have a rpm activated switch. Been wondering about having both wirfed in so will not trigger w/o both but still at rpm.
