Lets talk door car torque converters...flash, fall back
Whats everyone run behind their BBC`s like 565 or 582 combos? What are flashing to and how much do the drop at the shift? Mine is flashing to 6000 and falling back to 6450 at the shift.

I would call FTI, but I believe they will say a 93B which should flash at about 6800 in either of those combos, depending on cam. I have a 582 in a Camaro similar to yours (85 tube chassis Camaro 2500 lbs)

Yea mines 2400lbs and I just put a 582 in it. With my old 8in it flashs to 6000 and drops to 6400 on the shift.

Without providing all your specifics no one can say what you need correctly off this info

That is not the purpose of this post. I am curious about what other people are using and their results

Mines a slow heavy door car but my Coan 8in flashes to 6000 shift at 7100 falls back to 6300 behind my 565. Need to send it in and have it redone, it was built for my old 540.

6400 hit, 6500 fall back is a good spot to be, higher will be more consistent.

I agree that higher (looser) always seems to be quicker and more consistent. That is, as long as you can handle the finish line RPM.

Ok but how about some et info included with the converter info? Like I went 8.13 with a 8in flashing to 6000 and a 7800 shift converter fell back to 6400 with a glide.

Not sure on my flash. Shift at 7400. Falls back to 6400. Cross the finish at 7400.

I'm running 4.86 gears. Tried 4.57 gears one weekend and stall rpm sucked so it's a matter of matching everything to work together. Any combination may not be perfect but it could be something like the wrong type of converter or even the wrong gears in the diff. Alone they may be what the car wants but together, they may cause performance conflict.

You could also have two converters with identical stalls but one is loose and the other is tight. They'll perform differently even though they stall at the same speed.
