Building another SB2.2 SBC 463 Cu. In. Dart Aluminum tall deck block. Going to order Custom pistons for it this week. Who do you like and why?

I like the Diamond but I think they are 12-14 weeks out last I talked to them.

I have always been happy with Diamond, I generally got my custom blower pistons in 4-6 weeks even during Covid

I have been pleased with Diamond to. The pistons I put in my 454 SBC were Diamond. The thing is I believe they said 12-14 weeks for the SB2 pistons and I was not really wanting to wait that long. CP Carillo pistons look pretty nice and they a 7-8 weeks out. Could not get in touch with Gibtec, they would not answer phone. I will call Diamond again and find out how long to ship. Was a few months ago when I talked to them.
But then only company that I have been able to find to do the cam is saying 16 weeks.......

I have the block, crank and rods in the shop complete. The heads are at the porter being finished up.

The main hold up now is Cam and pistons.

Diamond was my choice for years until they were sold. Now the product ordered isn't what's in the box. I've had to send back the last 2 orders because either the ring pack isn't what I ordered or they didn't have gas ports. I'm done ordering anything from Diamond or Trend.

Just curious, if it's not proprietary information, what are you working on that there are no "shelf" pistons available?

Is it the tall deck, or the SB2 part that has you hung up?

Wisco does well.
New ones are Diamond but had to send the original set back as they didn't get the valve reliefs right.
I've used Wisco, Diamond and Ross. Ross is good as well.. I think all of them have had issues in the past, as far as getting what you ordered.

So far Racetec is saying fastest delivery time for this custom piston. Not concerned about price but it seems like a good price to.

The cam is going to be my big hold up. They are saying 16 weeks. When I order that tomorrow will see if I can get it expedited.

CP period. We have worked with them for a couple decades and never disappointed.

As for Diamond another case of being bought up by an equity firm. Also why CP has again become so backed up with work.

I think I would lower the stepover if I were programming it. Still a good looking piece.

I have CP pistons in my 582, I dealt with Ed Ursis and the result was I got exactly what I ordered. I've known Greg for many years and he is also very reliable.

FWIW this is for a heads up SBC, think Comp Eliminator type deal. Not your typical bracket deal. Trying not to leave alot on the table. This is not the fourth iteration of the combo. Always a little refinement each time.

But I can also see where it might be helping direct mixture to the quench areas, and every cc counts on chamber volume.
Interesting.

The CP Carillo pistons are a good choice for this motor simply because that is what was in this motor and so should not need much to balance.
Racetec had best delivery time quote and best price by about $500.
