The yearly racing analysis is something I do to complete each season; this is the 1st time sharing. The reflection part is mainly because I didn't have a major racing goal set.

We started the year with some changes to the Camaro. The primary changes to the car were a different Holley EFI/throttle body system & a rear gear change. While the new EFI system bells & whistles helped the program, along with a co-tuner. The best thing done was changing the rear gear from a 3.89 to a 3.55.

The rear gear change had many Pros & only one Con. The main Pro was it made the car raceable, even though I did well before the change. I was spending too much time on tuning/fighting the wheelies, I'm able to focus on driving now! As for the rest of the Pros: lower rpms, more boost, quicker ETs & more MPH. MPH is a Pro & Con, but I manage it pretty well.

Now for the analysis side of 2025. I take a pretty simplistic look at the years data same as I do on race days.

Race days: The main data I look at is in between rounds: reaction time & split times. My dial-in is decided in the staging lanes but rarely changes.

The general/simplistic trends of my 2025 end of year data:

Reaction Time - Majority of time I have a better reaction time than my opponent or equivalent. My losses usually come with a worse reaction time; I have improved on winning with a lesser reaction. The benefits of holding.

Dial-ins - Majority of time I'm on my number or slower. I don't like being slower than my number, I have my personal reasons.

Strategies - You really can't quantify the strategies. They work the majority of the time if you stick to the pre-round plan & execute them as practiced. Note: I'm always practicing/refining my different strategies during time runs & eliminations. I practice both 1/8 mile & 1/4 mile strategies when running 1/4 mile.

Other generalities:

My car being a relatively high powered, small tire bracket car can be a challenge. It's best at 80* or below & does well on cold tracks also. It's not so good above 80* & we do most of our racing during the day in the desert.

The car doesn't not print tickets, as some say. It doesn't do it on its best days or conditions. What the car/driver does do is find a way to consistently produce winning tickets!

Looking back again, I had minor goals I wanted to accomplish this year. I wanted to make the Camaro better, to have fun & to race some no electronic index races. I accomplished them all with a good amount of added icing on the cake!

I'm at the 1,000' or 330' mark of my racing. I hope to get a few more competitive years in & hit that life changing race win!

2BKING gave some clues on what works for him over the years. I'm sure I forgot some. Smile

I'll piggyback your thread.
Our season was a mixed bag.
First year in our new LQ trailer. So far we like it. Living space is very limited compared to the motorhome. But it's way less hassle and allows us a little more time to focus on the racing program.
My new to me car came out mid season. 2021 Racetech 205" car. This car is loaded and it's a dream to drive. I really like the practicality of trailer space and turning radius in the pits. The car works really well. I'm still getting used to the look at the finish line, and still getting it wrong a lot. I haven't gotten on to 1/8 mile finish line racing anyhow. The small block twin turbo combo was flawless this season. I raced most of the season in the 4.50's. Spent some time in the 40's. Even dipped into the 30's. It just doesn't make sense for me to race faster than 50's. I just get worse at the finish line the faster I go. I won some rounds. Made a final. Biggest weakness is the driver I'm afraid.

My son's car is an older s and W, and that car also works well. Single turbo LS car. The car is pretty fantastic repeatabilty wise. But we are still getting reliability worked out on the ls platform. And his season starts late because he's still in college. He hasn't been spectacular in the dragster yet. It runs mostly 4.70's. Pretty great for what we have in the car.

Goals for the next year are to get his engine back together since it dropped a valve late in the season. He will graduate in the spring, and then he can figure out what he wants to do with his car or if he wants to build a new one. We are leaning toward making the small block chevy the common engine between our cars in future years. Our small block program has just been more reliable than the ls has been. I think we have most of our growing pains behind us on the ls. But long strokes are hard on the short sleeves and piston skirts.
