That is totally insane. We thought same thing when Kenny Burnstein ran 300 in 1/4 mile, then they ran 300 in 1000 feet, then 300 in the 1/8 and now knocking on the door of 350 in 1000 feet! Those numbers are hard to comprehend. I can see why they say it is hard for your mind to keep up with the car with it happening so fast.

I liked seeing Spencer Massey go to finals, he is one of best drivers there is in my opinion. He does not have the big sponsorship money or best Crew Chief but he is a really good driver.

He's a good bracket racer too.

And Alcohol Dragsters are getting close to 4's in the 1/4 mile!

One strange thing I noticed this weekend was many of the Top Fuel and Funny cars were getting WAY better than normal reaction times and some were even going RED! You never see them going red unless they anticipated the tree and were way red. Racers who were normally .050-.070 were in the .020-.030 and a few .00x redlights. Something is different there than most other tracks I think.

Makes me wonder if something is off on the MPH times to. Still they have been getting faster and faster and are on the edge of blowing tires off all way down the track.

I agree with Curly1. I think there should be an asterisk next to the new record. Look at the average reaction times throughout the years and TF and FC R.T's are never in the 20 and 30's.

It's about 10 years past time for NHRA to slow the fuel cars down and put them back on the full 1/4 mile. Slowing them down to about 290-300 at the 1/4 mile stripe would be ideal, IMHO.

It has workked great in past. Unless downsize the pump it will be worked around. Plus big speed numbers sells tickets and tv coverage which inturn sells ads and make sponsorhips possible. Golden rule is king in Drag racing and Fuel class ,mpore than anything on earth.

Yea starting line .02 quick they figured. One said type of lights. We all know it was distance between pre stage and stage. All class; where quick. Thought damn guys stage like bracket car better et and safer lights.

Guys read the article as it does a good job explaining the situation. It had nothing to do with the pre stage and stage bulbs or the roll out. Actually the LEDs in the tree were straight out of the compulink tree. The matter came down to as the article said a difference in timing systems and speeds. Nhra used the tree speed settings from a compulink in an accutime and well the tree was too fast. There is nothing wrong with compulink it’s just older different technology than a modern accutime. The tree will be slowed down more in rockingham. It’s just simple adjustments and even the racers voted to leave it alone at 131. Matt Hagan does a great job explaining what it actually help remove. Again it’s a good read that explains it and from the racers perspective.
