While I have posted most of the index trophy pics. The 1st pic is all of them together. The 3 on the left are the 5.80 index wins, 2 of them won at Barona & 1 of them won at Famoso. The 3 on the right are the 6.0 index wins from NNRA - Good Times Dragstrip in Winnemucca, NV.

While the NNRA trophies are small the payouts were much better, to the tune of over 4K. The 5.80 trophies are nice, but the payouts were substantially smaller around 2K.

The NNRA wins were the most satisfying to win from a driving & tuning standpoint! I really had to be on my toes to get down the all asphalt minimally prepped track.

Happy day after race weekend... Brian, someone gonna put a bounty out for you if you keep spanking the competition like you are...

Had a great time at Farmington with the CCRA. Friday was TNT. 1st pass was great, 2nd pass blew the tires off, so no useable info gained, other than getting my reaction times under control. That 2nd pass, getting dark and I don't think I was lined up in the groove properly. I planned on a 3rd run, but on the return road my windshield got foggy and hard to see with poor return road lighting, so I shut down for the evening. As far as my goal of working on RT, I was slow but green on both runs.

Saturdays 1st time run .065 RT and made a good pass. 2nd pass was dash for cash/time runs. Dialed on 6.27 and brain dead me showed up, LOL. Staged car and forgot to release the line lock. Figured that out mid way through 2nd gear. Good thing I only stage it at 250-300# to keep from rolling through. Lost 2 tenths on ET. Slow off the line as well. I'm curious if the line lock made any difference in RT. 1st round eliminations, I actually drove like I had a clue. .0117 RT gave me the opportunity to let off early and get the win. 2nd round and car spun bad, of course I lose. Lost over 4 tenths on ET. Got the back end pretty bad sideways it spun so bad. Still left on green though, which I'm counting as a consolation win.

Sundays race, we only had one time run, which was dash for cash as well. Straight off the trailer, dialed 6.24 and ran 6.2502 with .037 RT. Feels good to feel I'm learning how to predict ET with it. 1st round dialed 6.25 and smoked my opponent at the tree with .0072 light. Got pretty close to the speed traps and let off. As soon as I did I saw his front end at the corner of my windshield and got back on the throttle. Went through with 6.31, dropping 5mph and had MOV of .0000. I'd like to know what the last number was, but didn't take the time to check and see if the tower could tell me. My butt kinda puckered when I saw him catching me. 2nd round was a total bust for me. Pulled into the lanes and noticed temp was going up, even though I was running the fan and engine was off. Of course that makes me think fan, given the fan issues from before. Unbuckle, jump out, check under the hood and fan and water pump are running. In and outta the car a couple more times turning things off & on and only thing I can come up with is a bad temp gauge. Heads were barely warm, intake at sending unit barely warm also. Had to scramble to get belted back in and ready to run. Unfortunately, now I'm distracted and paying more attention to the temp than where I should be. Think I staged out of the sweet spot again, as I spun a bit and missed my dial by .04. Had a .0666 light also, which I'm blaming for the lack of traction.

All in all, another great weekend at the dragstrip and I didn't red light once. Pretty sure that's a first for me since returning to racin... Time to start preparing for CCRA at GALOT in 2 weeks...

Almost forgot, Fern, they had a YUUUUUGE turnout of bracket cars over the weekend. I believe the count in Top was 330'ish Saturday and well over 200 on Sunday. I didn't hear a count for Modified, but there were a whole bunch over there as well... Really good weekend for sure.

Sure glad I wasn't there for that. I see you got Kevin Locklear 2nd round there one time, how did that work out? Known him and his Dad for a long time.
And if these tracks would open up and have consistant bracket races like Farmington does they to would have large crowds. Farmington has the corner on that market right now as none of the surrounding tracks are having regular bracket races.

BTR, thanks for posting up what's going on with your race program.

As for a bounty, this past race I sponsored a bounty against myself. If you beat me 1st round $100, 2nd round $200, 3rd round & further rounds capped at $300. You might ask why I did this. This is a mom & pop Podunk non-profit outlaw track. They have some racers/whiners complain about me; some are even in another class, 7.0 index. Well, you can see where I'm going with this, some didn't like that I sponsored the bounty against myself! These racers are the minority & have been the complainers, whiners & Karens of the sport & this track. While my intentions since the 1st time racing & winning at this track is to give back some of what I win.

There are many volunteers at this track & the ticket booth kids deserve some reward. The last race I started giving them $1 per time slip & when I won, they got $5 on top. I thought I was being cheap & this last race I still gave $1 per ticket but when I won. I had a clump of money in the passenger seat many $1 dollar bills, they got it all. Later that night after the racing was done the 2 kids, they looked to be sister & brother; probably 9-12 years old. They came to the trailer to thank/congratulate me & shake my hand. I asked them how much money was in the clump, they said $26 on top of the $1 per time slip given.

I'm not really doing anything different than some of the other racers are doing or have been doing. There was some bracket racing at their last event that I didn't attend. About 6-8 racers put $100-$200 each on top of the pot for the winner & or for 2nd place.

Next year when I go back to defend the King of 6.0 index, I'll do something to the Karens to rub their noses in their own drama!

Now for the bad. I consider myself a better bracket racer than an index racer. At this track, the bracket racing is always before the index races. I wanted to win one & that was the goal this past weekend. I'm pretty sure the 3 times I've been there I've have lost in the 1st round & bought back in & lost. It has always been wheel spin while trying to get the power management sorted out for the index racing. It was funny, I was in line for the buyback round. This racer came up to me & stated you don't lose. I had to laugh & tell him yes, I do lose!

I've had a great run on these 6 index wins & hope to continue it next year. My car is finally a dream to race & I have a few goals for the rest of the year I wish to accomplish.

Fern, Kevin wore me out... That was the run when my temp gauge went haywire. He had me by .05 on the tree. That, along with a little tire spin, I didn't stand a chance. Still tried to catch him though. LOL. I spoke with him later. Seems like a really nice fella. You know about their curfew at The Farm... Saturday the track broke that and raced til around 1am from what I gather.

Great people BT. B King more should try to give back a little. When I raced at Pageland I added to the purse in my class and for several years my friend and I have paid $500 for the best winning and losing packages and also the hard luck award of $500 at the WFC at Bristol. WE never win and are poor as church mice. BUT we have both won a lot when we were younger.

I used 3 different radials in testing/racing for them. The 1st race won was on the M/T PBR 29.5 x 10.5s at Winnemucca, NV. The 2nd & 3rd were on the Hoosier 30 x 9s C30 compound at Barona, CA. The 4th was on the Hoosier 30 x 9s C30 compound back at Winnemucca. The 5th & 6th were on the Hoosier DR3s DOT 275/60R-15s at Barona, then Winnemucca.

It looks like the DOTs are only going to get about 40 runs. I have 20 on them & saving them for the Kingman Street Drags in Oct. That will be heads up racing, more to come on that race.

The Hoosier 30 x 9s have around 60 runs on them & I can get about 100 runs out of them.

The M/T PBRs have around 100 runs on them & will go around 200 runs.

See, almost equal opportunity wins between the different style radials tires across different tracks.

I really consider myself lucky & blessed for this accomplishment. I hope to add to it with the next index race next year!

I have won more than my fair share of races over almost 40 years & hopefully it continues. Too many years I didn't give back & I finally realized I should! I guess it's better late than never.
