I kind of look at it, that I'm still capable of beating myself up. If I give in to a lift, I'll lose that capability of being able to work off the floor. I have always been a physical had working person. I just don't want to lose that capability or postpone it till I'm not capable.

I have room for a lift & have been looking at a 4 post. When I feel I can no longer work off the floor, I'll purchase one.

Well well I am 85 in a week and my trans is out, new converter in it and ready to put back in. All on the floor. I used to pay people to do this stuff but needed something to do. But I was also at the beach last week to rest up for the put back. You all take care.

Even with a lift you're going to end up doing part of the job on the floor, unless you buy one of the tall trans jacks, and those things are a huge PITA to store, and you still need help loading the trans onto it, whereas using a floor jack gets that part done.

With both Brian and Fern having trans issues, I'm feeling like I'm in good company in tranny purgatory. Just picked mine up from my fixer. Has a new, clean bill of health. Broke both snap rings off the input shaft, cracked the input shaft at the smaller snap ring groove and beat the poop out of the 4th gear dog ring. These Jerico units are becoming obsolete and hard to find parts for. Thankfully I had a spare input, or else I'd have been done for quite some time. I don't think anyone's making them now that Jerico closed their doors. Buzze Racing came through with the snap rings and dog ring. Hopefully I'll find time to put it back in the car this weekend.

Hey Brian, my trans fixer is headed out west for the million race next week with his son. Damm good racers. Watch out for em if ya make it out there. Good luck out there to y'all who are racing.

thanks Markemark---I can drop dead anywhere, had a heart attack 12 years ago under the car installing the transmission. Lifes been good and I am not going to give up easily. Just seems like there is always more to do. And I appreciate all the encouragement I get from everyone here. Stop by and say hello some time

M & M,

And... you were worried about me beating myself up working underneath the car. Then Fern trumps me by 22 years. Fern continues to be an inspiration. I hope I can grow up & be like him! Cool

Tried to install driveshaft & it's too long. Emergency run into Dan's Driveline to have the slip shaft shortened. Apparently I was a little long before & the new trans output shaft is longer than the old one by about a 1/4".
