I didn't race today. We drove to Vegas yesterday in the heat and ran the generator and roof air. By the time we got to Vegas the sun was going down and the roof air died. My wife has some serious health issues and wouldn't have done well to try and sleep in the hot RV so we went home to Kingman. Got home at 2:30 am. Sunday racing hopefully will happen for me but with my F150 single cab short bed coyote daily . I'm not in a bad mood, I just look that way.........

I draw the line at 108* and 75% humidity. I love racing but I have a limit to what I'll deal with. I don't know how you folks back in the East and South deal with 110/100. NOPE! Bob

The heat continued to F..k the fun out of the weekend. I did remember to put the N after my dial in today! My .009 light in the 1st round didn't cut it & my opponent went .004. My choice has been to do it without a box, for shyts & giggles. On to the Winnemucca, NV. outlaw track for some little prep asphalt 6.0 Index & some bracket racing in a couple weeks. 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. BKing , yeah sometimes you forget how leveling drag racing can be . After the last 2 years especially you just get used to some success , then get kicked in the arse . Tex

Tex, I'm blessed to still be able to win a race or two yearly. It's getting harder to do the older I get. I find myself making more stupid mistakes; like forgetting to put the N after my dial in for no cross talk. Getting ready for the 7-hr. drive to Northern NV. next week for a mini racecation with the wife. She doesn't go to the track much anymore but she thought this sounded like a fun trip. 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. Prepping here for the Clemmons Stick Shift Nationals at Farmington Friday/Saturday. Did some preventive maintenance last week & this weekend. Pulled tranny to check clutch stuff. Everything's looking good right now. Added a little bit of base pressure. Looked inside tranny and appears ok as well. Checked spring pressures and valves, again things appear good. Rewired the fan, since my emergency repairs a few weeks ago weren't pretty, but were functional. Want to bump my launch RPM from 6600 to 7000, but Don't have the chip. Set up for 6800 for now and hope to find what I want before leaving Friday morning. Need to pick up some more fuel as well. No one within 2 hours ride from me stocks C14, but with a slight detour to the track, I should be able to get it, hopefully. Sent an oil sample out to SpeedDiagnostix, which analysis shows good. Hopefully I'll be able to get my trailer set up for a more comfy overnight stay. Gonna be hot from here on and sleeping in the backseat of the truck may not be so comfy going forward. Gotta find my portable A/C an air mattress and possibly a canopy to park the car under for shade. Y'all have a great week. William Kilduff 1970 Barracuda 1968 Camaro X2 1968 Caprice 1964 F100

I'm always curious about the clutch tuning. How much base pressure is a bit? We have a 1/4-mile Yamaha Banshee (quad) & the key to making it work is the clutch tuning. 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. Pump Gas 436

Got a couple months off now so have a breather and refocus . I believe some issues are simply lack of regular racing . Some of this is by choice , racing national series some because we normally only have 1 race a month with minimal T&T which tend to be a cluster#uck . Next NDRC event is September will try for 1 or 2 local track rounds . PBRs are virtually done so Goodyears full time now . Tex

I'm sure we discussed this before, but how many runs do you get out of the PBRs? How do you order them & what's the cost & shipping on them? 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. Pump Gas 436

I'm still learning the clutch world, and cannot be relied upon for any expert knowledge. Having said that, my version of a bit may be a lot to some, a little to others, and just right to others than those before.. LOL.. I run a Ram Red Hat single disc clutch with 360# base pressure at its lowest setting. One full turn of the adjuster adds 15 more. Pretty sure it has a limit of 7 turns. I had it at 5.25 turns (aprox 439# total). Increased to 6 full turns for 450# total. I don't know how much the extra 10 will affect things but hoping for something positive. Increasing my launch RPM from 6600 to 7000 as well. I've been getting help over the phone from a guy who is very familiar with this car and engine/tranny combo. He worked with Jimmy (prior owner/builder of it) a lot when he was racing. He tells me they ran as much base pressure as the clutch would allow. Never ran any counterweights. He also never used any RPM control at launch, other than his right foot, so as far as I know he could have been leaving closer to 8000RPM. At 2nd bulb, foot to the floor and wherever the engine got up to was where he left. Seems like that would be somewhat inconsistent at times, but he won a ton of races, including class winner at Indy 9 years in a row. I've been considering dropping base pressure closer to 400 and adding counterweight, just to see how it reacts. Gonna wait for that though. I think I'd be better off waiting until I get into a full day of t-n-t so I can make mistakes in tuning without affecting a race day. Depth marks are just about gone . Will keep for spare . Shipping , I pick up from distributor . Cost = OMG ! . Right around $1400.00 for a pair when in stock . The Goodyears were about $900 IIRC . Hoosiers are the same or more than PBR and about 75/85 laps. Shoot I might have to go crossply to manage cost . As PBR has gone 1 1/2 seasons . oh for a tyre sponsor Tex

We use anywhere from 100#s - 200#s of base pressure depending on the surface we run, tire & distance. We have to have some slip at the drop of the clutch. Then we bring in the counterweights progressively to lock-up the clutch. I get a lot of satisfaction when I have the clutch right. 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. Pump Gas 436

Wow, that's a lot of $$$ for tires. So, how much are the crossply slicks? I had to look that up, we call them bias ply. 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. Pump Gas 436

BKing , damn I just looked at local prices . Freaking hell . The PBR is retailing @ $861 each Mt 28 x 10.5 stiff wall bias is $641 Goodyear 29 x 11 $585 I think my mate bought Hoosiers last month 29 x 10.5(?) around $600 each . I would have to check for tyre growth to see what might fit . Max is 30" diameter on a radial and about the 12.5 section like the PBR . I do want to stay under 7000 at stripe AND tubeless if possible . Don't want to drill my Billet Specialties . I thought i read the GY is tubeless in bias . Crikey this makes it hard to race for sure . Tex
