Congrats on winning out there Brian. Happy Sunday and Happy Fathers day to all the dads out there. Quick'ish recap of my trip to The Stick Shift Nationals this weekend. The folks at Farmington Dragway have a great facility and do a great job running a race. $100 entry for essentially 3 races. Lots and lots of sponsors for this race, making the low entry fee and great payouts possible. I heard over 110 entries Friday and figure it had to be 120+ Saturday. Friday was a Gamblers race, Saturday was the main event and a 2nd chance race for all 1st round losers. My first time run Friday, while really good, didn't give me good info on what to expect from the car. Cut a good light, but also launched at 9000 rpm, which is 2200 above where I wanted to. Played my in car video back after and it definitely hit 9. Bit of a wakeup call. Was yet another learning moment for myself, as I was paying more attention to the line lock than much else. My shifter has about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of play in it when in 1st gear. I have a microswitch on the 1st gear gate that activates the low side rpm on the 2 step, and I didn't have shifter pushed into it, so instead of riding the 6800 chip, it hit the 9000 high end chip. Car launched, hooked hard, felt like it rode the wheelie bars for a short distance, came down nice n easy and made a great pass. Did make a very slight move right, but my in car video shows barely any correction in my steering wheel. Would love to see pics/video of the run, but I didn't have anyone there for that. Hoping the track photographer got it and posts it. I did verify the 2 step working properly in the pits afterwards, so it had to be my mistake with the shifter when staged. At least I didn't screw up the line lock again. LOL. Next time run was good, without any screw ups, then 1st round eliminations, I went red. Bad red too. I got as much red outta that one as possible I believe. Saturday, I adjusted the clutch pedal for about 2 inches more travel to slow down my RT. Worked well, as my next 3 passes were good enough green lights. Going by memory, ( slips are in the garage), I had .0095 1st time run, .04 2nd time run & .06 1st round, losing with .005 losing package to the 2025 Gear Jammers champion. Made the loss feel a little better knowing he's their current champ. 1st round of the 2nd chance race, (losers bracket), another .04 light and won the round only to turn around and go -.09 red in the 2nd. Still got paid $25 round money. Car was consistent all weekend, both ET & MPH, as well as my 60'-330' & 330'-660' splits. Makes me feel pretty good, that if I can get my RT under control, I may see more of them pretty white timeslips, instead of the yellow losers.... All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and learned a bit more that I hope to apply to future races. Y'all have a great evening. Thanks for the congrats guys! Keep plugging away BTR, seems like you're getting issues resolved. Also, sounds like the event had a good car count! I still have more to come on my racing, hopefully post up today. 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. Pump Gas 436 | |||

Fri. at the track was a thunderstorm, dust storm & of course high winds. I manage to get in an arm drop pass with the car because of no power before the after mentioned storms. I spun about 10' off the line. Did manage to get in a grudge bracket race with our SxS & won $20. Sat. morning, we had a bracket race & I went red in the 1st round. Sat. after noon we had a pit vehicle bracket race. Our SxS was the fastest at 10.90 in the 1/8th, blistering fast. Anyway, I won that. It was random pairing & I had to run a 40 sec. golf cart twice. She lost in the 1st round/bought back & I beat her again. Both ends of the track tested my focus & skills if I have any. Sat. evening was the 6.0 & 7.0 index races. I had made a total of 4 passes of spinning about 10' off the line. The best ET was a 6.33, not going to cut it for the 6.0 index. Made a change in tire pressure & the launch retard for one time hit, it hooked & I ripped the throttle at the end. It went 6.028 @ 119 mph. Anyway, I figured I was set-up to run in the 5.9x range. Above was good for the 6.0 index win & $1,560. This was nice to get the back-to-back wins in the class. Just as a side note I also have back-to-back wins in 5.80 index at another track. It's nice or lucky to be able to be undefeated in 4 no-box/no throttle stop index racing. 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs.
