I kind of look at it, that I'm still capable of beating myself up. If I give in to a lift, I'll lose that capability of being able to work off the floor. I have always been a physical had working person. I just don't want to lose that capability or postpone it till I'm not capable. I have room for a lift & have been looking at a 4 post. When I feel I can no longer work off the floor, I'll purchase one. 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. Pump Gas 436

Well well I am 85 in a week and my trans is out, new converter in it and ready to put back in. All on the floor. I used to pay people to do this stuff but needed something to do. But I was also at the beach last week to rest up for the put back. You all take care.

Even with a lift you're going to end up doing part of the job on the floor, unless you buy one of the tall trans jacks, and those things are a huge PITA to store, and you still need help loading the trans onto it, whereas using a floor jack gets that part done. With both Brian and Fern having trans issues, I'm feeling like I'm in good company in tranny purgatory. Just picked mine up from my fixer. Has a new, clean bill of health. Broke both snap rings off the input shaft, cracked the input shaft at the smaller snap ring groove and beat the poop out of the 4th gear dog ring. These Jerico units are becoming obsolete and hard to find parts for. Thankfully I had a spare input, or else I'd have been done for quite some time. I don't think anyone's making them now that Jerico closed their doors. Buzze Racing came through with the snap rings and dog ring. Hopefully I'll find time to put it back in the car this weekend. Hey Brian, my trans fixer is headed out west for the million race next week with his son. Damm good racers. Watch out for em if ya make it out there. Good luck out there to y'all who are racing. thanks Markemark---I can drop dead anywhere, had a heart attack 12 years ago under the car installing the transmission. Lifes been good and I am not going to give up easily. Just seems like there is always more to do. And I appreciate all the encouragement I get from everyone here. Stop by and say hello some time

M & M, And... you were worried about me beating myself up working underneath the car. Then Fern trumps me by 22 years. Fern continues to be an inspiration. I hope I can grow up & be like him! 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. Pump Gas 436

Tried to install driveshaft & it's too long. Emergency run into Dan's Driveline to have the slip shaft shortened. Apparently I was a little long before & the new trans output shaft is longer than the old one by about a 1/4". 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. New Race cars parts never fit, making fitment adjustments is just part of owning a race car

After 35+ years of doing this, I have come to the same conclusion. Just didn't think it was going to happen in this situation. Long tail shaft glide for long tail shaft glide swap. While the visible output shaft of a 1/4" length difference didn't account for the drive shaft being approximately 2" too long. The thing I didn't like is the drive shaft shop cutting off 5"-6" off my Mark Williams billet slip yoke. Now, I only have a little over 3" of spine engagement vs. what I had. 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. Luck is holding here--trans and converter are back in the car. Still have to put mufflers back on and tighten up the converter bolts. Daughter was good helper today!!!!

Bking when I made changes to my Vega that made my drive shaft 1 1/2” too long the shop wanted to do the same and cut off my billet yoke. I told them no. Took shaft home and removed yoke and ujoints myself. Then took shaft back and had them cut and shorten the tube itself the proper amount.

I really hand my hands tied with time constraints on Fri. afternoon. The trusted driveline shop told me to shove the shaft into the tail shaft as far as it would go & mark the slip yoke at the seal. I didn't expect them to cut that much off the slip yoke. I asked how much they cut off & got what does it matter. I stewed on it on the 1.5-hour trip home & new I was going to have to do some research. I installed the shaft & took some measurements. After the research, I determined I had over a good amount of safety margin with spline engagement. What I didn't have is the overkill of spline engagement I did have. The plan is to run this shaft for the Spring Fling Million races. Order another MW slip yoke & have the shaft shortened to have/give the slip yoke maximum spline engagement. 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. Rubber is getting ready to hit the road for the Spring Fling Million for parking tomorrow! I have been spent about every moment of the last 6+ months: eating, shyting, sleeping/dreaming, planning, preparing, strategizing & lord knows what else getting ready for this race. I got most every goal accomplished except adding more boost & nitrous oxide. It will have to wait until next year. One of the best things I did to prepare for the Fling was to race in S/Pro with no-box. The Wife & I had discussed the no-box strategy for preparing in Dec. We had 8 points races before the Fling. It kept me focused on racing 1/8th mile & pressured me to step up my lights. While I struggled the first 5 races with 1st & 2nd round losses. The 6th race I made it to the semi-finals & did the same on the 7th race. As for the 8th race, I managed a 3rd round loss with a hurt transmission. I did neuter the engine tune to make 1 time hit & 3 rounds. I feel pretty prepared for the Fling races & accomplished many good round wins over the past 7 months. I won 2 index races & 1 in Pro the last points race: last fall. I started this year with an index win & 2 semi-final finishes in S/Pro. I hope my winning rounds carries forward to the Fling & even then I need to be at the top of my game. Who knows what's going to happen, proof will be in the pudding! Follow along, it will be streamed on YouTube. I'll be the first class out (Pro) every day at 8am, except Tues. time runs. Hopefully, I can go enough rounds to merge into S/Pro. Wish me luck DRR, I'll need it! 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. Pump Gas 436

Bking a few years back one of my friends wife won him an entry. All he had to do was get from Virginia to Vegas. Left in a wore out pickup with his car on an open trailer, broke down on the way and fixed the truck on the side of the road. Got there, won the million and then won another million the same year. When its your turn it is your turn. Remember Jeff Verdi ? So good luck I will be watching when I can

Thanks Guys, you're riding with me good or bad; hopefully all good. You have listened to me good or bad & I'm truthful/transparent! I hope you're able to watch & I hope I don't disappoint any of you! My sponsors have been loyal to me & believe in me. Either way, I know I have a good support network. I've put in a lot of hard work. I'm realizing my competitive edge is leaving me as I get older. I need to get my last item on the bucket list checked off this year or the next. Fern, I wish to have the Cinderella stories that Jeff Verdi had, it would be nice 2BKING at the Million. I'm glad your transmission is back in the car. The most important item in that post was "Daughter was good helper today!!!!". M & M, I hope to chime in daily. Even though I hate using my phone to do it. I do have the technology in my truck for me to hot spot for my laptop but lack the skills to use it. It should be easy with my truck, it will practically wipe my a.s.s if I asked it too. RPROGAS/Bob, we have met a couple of times at the track & I wish it could be the same for other DRR members. It has been a pleasure to spend time with you, Norma & Mike! I'm pretty sure you've figured out how I'm wired with my racing program. BTR, thanks for taking time. I'm so happy you're racing & sorry to hear, "time is becoming hard to come by lately." I never thought I would be in a position the have the drive, ambition, motivation & goals to compete against the best at this age! 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs.
