Have all tracks gone to a single time shot for their weekly bracket event?

I luv it, only thing better is zero!

I usually only take one unless something is new on the car.

Orlando Speedworld is doing one Super Pro time run, when they run a Quick 32 alongside Super Pro.

I think it's a good idea.

I think if I were a track manager, and a guy needed two for some struggles he was going through, I'd tell him to jump in with footbrake too, for a second one.

Two is the norm for the tracks I run on (eastern nc). Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

Most have 2, some have open TT before time trials and then it's 2.

Most still have a couple and many have open time runs at regular bracket races. Plus some will have a test and tune the day before

Lebanon Valley typically has two but lately they’ve been giving us one sometimes due to large car count and/or weather. This year we’ve had races with 100+ cars each in super and pro. One time shot is fine with me but not everyone likes it.

I think it's done to push you into buying back. Two time shots and a 1st round loss, a lot of racers will load up. But one time shot and a loss, then a buyback or re-entry and the track just pockets more money. I get it when the numbers are big and time is limited but I also remember racing 1/4 mile, 3 time shots and a finished race with hardly a spot to park in if you were running late. Guess the track crews today just can't get their **** together to pull that one off.

It seems a lot of races are going to one or none. I can get by without them but really don't like when they don't give any. Makes me feel like you are paying for a time run by buying back. Plus no time runs is why you see a lot of people double enter. The first run is basically your time run.

IMO. It all boils down to the promoter making more money. Not saying that is a bad thing. I know they have to make money or there is no reason for them to put a race on.

Larger events is one thing. But one and done really doesn't give any testing time. And a lot of tracks don't hold much in the way of test and tune days or nights either. The norm around here is 3 or 2 for weekly events.

Good Morning All.
The closest local track MDIR has gone to 1 time run. They also went from opening at 1PM to opening at 9AM, due to the recent larger car counts. Starting early last year. Mostly due to 2 other local tracks closing, and a 3rd track no longer bracket racing.

I'm not really a big fan of 1 time run, but it is what it is.

There will typically be 70 to 80 + Jrs, 125 + Top ET cars, and 100 + Mod cars.
With buy backs it makes for a super long day.

I would think it could be a advantage for the racers that get to race every weekend, multiple times a weekend, and know their cars very well.
Also could be a big disadvantage to the occasional racer, and a new racer that is just getting started.

But as I said earlier, it is what it is.
00X dead on X "DO WHAT" !!!
Have a GREAT race season

chasracer hits it on the head. There is usually no reason for no cars going down the track. One round or class gets done there is no reason to have a 20-30 min pause. Do this for a whole race and you have lost a couple of hours or more. Waiting on the same person race after race, run without them. Double entered, no reason for your car to be the last one back up 20 min later. You chose to double and everyone else has to wait for you? I have heard the reasons for all of these delays but none of them hold water. Like he said I remember running 100s of cars in 1/4 mile and done in 5-6 hours. Most of these races had open time runs--same deal, it was up to you to get up there. Sorry if you got there late or fooled around and didn't get one. The excuses abound but the bottom line is if nothing is going down the track you are wasting time. What ever happened to round robin racing?

There should be a minimum of 2 time shots, if for no other reason than having one or none time shots is yet another barrier keeping new racers from entering the sport. What chance does a new racer have if he gets one or none chances to shake his car down and get a shot at the tree before becoming a first round runner-up?

Those were the best of days, for sure. It's not all on the track crews - the racers aren't great at getting to the lanes when called these days, getting staged quickly, etc.

The question was about weekly bracket races not big money. None of the tracks I go to for their weekly stuff has gone to a single TT. They all still give 2.

Local tracks here frequently have only one. I raced this past Sunday at a local track and there was only one.

How many dragsters and such was there racing 20 years ago that take so long to do burnout and stage compared to now? The same goes for the doorcars. There wasn’t as much ****ing around back in the day.

But that don't account for the periods of time lost between rounds/classes and waiting for someone who is slow getting back.

It does seem like better and more efficient utilization of facilities would be a benefit for all.

I would love to see a shot clock. If you aren't staged, too bad soo sad.
For that matter, kick it in the ass a bit with the calls to the lanes. When they don't call until there are half a dozen cars left in the previous class, you are going to suffer a delay. By the same token, I don't want to stand in the staging lanes all day. Planning!

I have often wondered why tracks don't use open time sessions. Gates at 8, time runs 9-11:30, cleanup 11:30-12 for cars with zero shots and at 12:15 Round one of whatever class. Just an example.
