You can’t leave it up to the starter,he has buddies,Race sponsors,it can’t be a judgment call as they are never the same for everyone. They went from 5 bulb tree to 3 bulb tree to save time at big races, I wouldn’t see this being much different. At two cars pre staged the starter throws the switch and it’s on. Both racers have the same amount of time to get in,but make it a changing number like the tree activation.

Lol,its real simple,if there is a staging battle,neither racer will stage,all the starter needs to do is walk between the racers ,motion to them by looking at his wrist, and put up 5 fingers,the racers will get the point,starter counts to 5 an overides auto-start, and runs the tree down ,guaranteed next time a staging duel happens, they will stage,lol.

No shot clock needed, it should be once both prestage bulbs are lit...each of ya have 8-10 seconds to stage. If one or both is not in, red lights come on the lane or lanes that did not stage. THIS might have been said already I just don't have the time to read thru the BS to see.

Frankly I think it would add a challenge and move a race along quicker if there was a timer from the time that the water box guy gives you the go ahead. Some people can take forever to do the simplest things. Plus, it would weed out those who can't survive a little time pressure. Heck put the countdown clock over the tree! Bring on the distractions!
