I am in need of a new helmet for next year. What is everyone using and where are you buying them. I would prefer one with a skirt built in as have to wear the "hans" if it matter. Rather have built in than an attached one but those work. So whats everyone using and buying?

I love my Impact champ. Most comfortable and best fitting helmet I've ever had. Only issue now is that they aren't releasing the SA2025's until mid year next year and they only have one helmet available on the website now which is a carbon one I don't care for. Plus it's $1700. I've had a G-Force and fit was ok, but it cracked in half when it fell off my car. Keep in mind, the drop was less than three feet.....

I like the helmets that utilize some form of F1 tech. Bell, Shuberth, Arai, Stilo etc. I also prefer carbon. Currently using a Shuberth SP-1 and looking at a Bell GT6 ultra.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Best one is the one that fits you…

I always liked the look of the Simpson bandit but tried one on and it fit me horribly. I think it’s because I have an oval head and they’re built for round heads.

I’ve had two G Force helmets and both fit really good. Currently in the Supernova which is carbon and lightweight.

This spring we tried a couple of new helmets for my wife whose SA2015 is expiring at the end of this year. Couldn’t find anything she liked that fit good.

Best bet is to find somewhere that has a bunch and try them on. Back in the day the manufacturers midway at a national was perfect for this but not so much anymore.

I use a Shark with the lip. If you run a open body car the lip makes a ton of difference over a bandit style helmet that tries to pull your head off at 1000 ft.

Al, I went through this at the beginning of the year. My best advice is to go try on multiple helmets. I ordered one I liked from Simpson, then Speedway and finally drove to Summit and tried on 8 different ones before I found one that would work. I prefer carbon but ended up getting a non-carbon because I have to wear glasses. If you don't wear glasses it is much easier.

Something I did notice trying on different brands is that some of the shells are larger than others and some sit up on your head more than others. Cheek pads can be tight in some so if they can be swapped out for sizing that is a plus also. Good luck with your search.
