I used a HANS when I ran TS with a collar. It worked fine, probably give it a try again next year. Obtw, I was never totally sold on a HANS by itself, always thought it wasn't enough. But that's just me.

The one blessing in disguise with this is my new home track only runs SuperPro at 1/8th mile...I run 4.50 in the 1/8th......No neck brace nonsense needed.....I'll still buy one and get used to it in case I ever go to a track that runs 1/4 mile...

I only run high 147-9 in the 1/8th, so I read that I'm ok....this dragster only certs to 4.50 so I am careful to lift a bit early

My doorcar only runs 101-103 and I will wear my Necksgen when I come back out racing. Its a small price to pay when you weigh in the benefits. I have had 2 back surgeries and a neck fusion so I need to be extra safe.

I have a bunch of them.... But its usually because i can go 4.46 dailed 4.50 or so....LOL

Not that it is a bad idea or harmful in any way. But I'm not sure these devices will prevent the kind of injuries you are thinking here.

I'm not calling you a liar. I'm saying the ET and MPH relationship is unconventional, and I am curious to see what the entire slip looks like.

My car is not a dog down low, and has been a best of 4.63 @ 148, so I'm curious how quick a car must be early in the run to threaten the 4.50 barrier at essentially the same MPH.

My chassis only certs to 4.50/7.50....I don't want to hear any shyt from anybody, so I always lift early so I don't run 4.4-something...I usually dial 4.55-59.....It may not even go into the .40's....I haven't run 1/4 for a couple of years.... As a matter of fact I've got my 60' times down into the 1.0's and the car has slowed down a full tenth easily by doing it...go figure....This weekend in Bakersfield is a 1/4 mile race....I'll let it go on a run or two just to see where I'm actually at.....Doesn't really matter...99% of my racing is 1/8 now....and I'm NOT going to run faster than 150 because of the neck brace nonsense...

Your head and neck won’t know the difference between a sudden deceleration from 147 to 0 and 150 to 0.

FYI, even a crash from 25-30 mph is enough to cause a basal skull fracture and KILL YOU.... I don't even know why this is such an issue with people. So many complain about "too much safety crap this" and "too much safety crap that", then someone gets killed and everybody says "he should have been wearing this or that"......

IMHO, you should be wearing a hans device of some type with ANY car, whether it's required or not when racing. What price do you put on your life? I've been wearing one since my car was only a high 8 second car because I feel safer with it on....

Even a sudden stop at the speeds I mentioned is enough to kill you.....and also, neck collars do absolutely zero to support your head, they are more for keeping flames out in the event of a fire....

NHRA is mandating the rule because they think it may save some lives. While I wear one anyway I think it is good that they make it effective 2024.

They may be a little on the strict side but that is probably due to Insurance and Law Suits.

Yes, you COULD get hurt or killed at a 20 or 30 MPH crash but it gets riskier as speeds increase.

And yes there is no real difference between hitting a wall at 147 and 150, it is going to leave a mark. 150 MPH is the number they picked with the information they have as the best speed to require it.

I do not have a problem with the rule.

Should you wear one driving to the track? Statistically speaking, far more racers die in automobile accidents than racing accidents.

My point is, this should be statistically driven. If we are going to take the stand that we need to be proactive to prevent any risk of death, we will all wear top fuel fire suits and have ****pit canopies. And that's absurd.

With that line of thinking, you could make the argument that we don't have to wear any safety equipment. Personally, this bothers me way less than having to get my transmission case recertified every 5 years.
