Any news/update regarding how John Force is doing?
Ugly crash, especially the hit on the left wall.

He was alert and conscious, did not look like he was in pain or anything when they took him. Brittany Force said he was going to be okay. But no word since that.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

They posted an update today. He is still in ICU, but it seems to be precautionary because of his age.

These types of accidents can cause all sorts of problems later on, and they want to make sure he doesn't have some unseen issue.

Prayers for J.F. That was a brutal hit. Even the 2nd impact was severe. If you watch the video in slo-mo, check out the front tires - I marvel at the fact that he was still steering the car and trying to save it, while engulfed in a fireball.
I don't know that I would be surprised if he does hang it up after that one. Still driving Nitro Bombs at 75 years old, he has more balls than most guys on this planet, by far. The man has nothing left to prove.

Dead on!

75 years old, running 330+ MPH, and winning! I would love to see him come back and finish the season but dont blame him if he didnt.

I was thinking the same thing when he tried to get up when they were loading him in the ambulance, thought they would of had him in a neck brace strapped to a backboard...just have to assume they knew what they were doing since he was able to get out of the car with their assistance

I do not think he would have sat up if his back or neck was broken. It would probably hurt and he would think I better not do that.

And he did not look like he was knocked out or anything. The fact that they have kept him in there and not saying much is concerning.

After an impact like that your brain sort of goes numb, probably because the pain hasn't hit you, but it's coming.

S/S Dart is correct the spinal cord is easily damaged, allowing him to exit the car unassisted was probably not a good idea. Mr. Force being Mr. Force he probably didn't want the help. I hope that all turns out favorably, he is the face of Professional NHRA Drag Racing.

Seems to me they would have gave us much more information by now. Someone said respect his family and give them privacy but he is the biggest name in the business. Just find it strange they are not saying much.

Big hit on an old frame! Not the car! Takes a toll I’m betting he has a few more issues like severe internal bruising.
Hope he gets well.

6/27/2024 UPDATE: JOHN FORCE IMPROVING, FACES LONG ROAD AHEAD
June 27, 2024 - UPDATE. NORWALK, Ohio. - Four days after his crash at more than 300 miles per hour, drag racing champion John Force has moved from the trauma intensive care unit to the neuro intensive care unit, where the medical team can focus on his head injury which is their primary concern.
The move was a welcome positive for his family members, who have maintained a daily presence at the hospital all week.
With the unanimous support of her family, team, and sponsors, Brittany Force is not planning to compete this week at the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio, where she would have driven the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet Top Fuel dragster. Instead, she will remain at the hospital with her family in solidarity for her father.
Austin Prock will compete this weekend with the same courageous, fighting spirit that John has embodied and instilled in his teams over the years, and his AAA Chevrolet Camaro SS team will proudly carry the torch for the entire John Force Racing organization and sponsors this weekend.
The Force family are grateful for the team of medical professionals who are caring for John, and for the overwhelming number of heartfelt messages of prayer, support, and concern. Thank you for continuing to respect the privacy of the family and John Force Racing team members.

Not so sure that is a "positive" going into a neuro unit at 75yo.

Someone said they saw him and can not post it but expect some very good news from Force camp soon.

Who knows? I think it is rather strange how quiet they have been about the whole deal. Do know I saw him sit up after the crash and he did not appear to be in pain or anything. When I saw that I thought he was probably okay. Now a week later still in hospital and they have not told us much.

Why is Shirley Muldowney flapping her jaws about what helmet John Force wears? She said he should have been wearing a Bell helmet like that would have made a big difference? We do not even know exactly what is going on with him but she acts like it would not have happened if he was wearing a Bell helmet. Maybe she should STFU.

I do not think John Force cuts any corners on safety and does everything he can to make all of the funny cars safer.

I cut and copied this and will leave it here for discussion.

FORCE MOVING FORWARD IN RECOVERY PROCESS
Hall of Famer Makes Progress, There’s Still a Long Road Ahead
RICHMOND, Va. (June 30, 2024) – After five tense days during which he was heavily sedated while battling the effects of injuries suffered in the 300 mile-per-hour crash of his drag racing Funny Car, 16-time NHRA World Champion John Force has begun to show daily signs of improvement, according to family members who have maintained a presence at the trauma hospital to which he was transported by air ambulance on Sunday.
Early in the treatment process of his Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), he failed to follow the series of commands to open his eyes, squeeze the hands of his care providers and move his extremities. Occasionally, he was able to respond with slight movements, but it wasn’t until he moved from trauma intensive care unit to neuro intensive care unit on Wednesday that he began to gain some momentum.
He became more consistent responding to commands and finally opened his eyes on day five. Following days of failed attempts, his wife and daughters were overcome with emotion when he murmured his name, ‘John Force,’ and later when prompted, gave a thumbs up.
The biggest challenge has been managing his extreme agitation and confusion, which causes him significant distress. He has repeatedly tried to get out of bed and has been restrained; his doctors have humorously described him as a raging bull. However, he recognized his daughters, wife, Laurie, and called them each by name. And spoke the words, “I love you.” This, along with continued daily progress has uplifted their spirits.
Brittany opted out of the ****pit of the Cornwell Tools Top Fuel dragster at this week’s 17th Summit Racing Equipment Nationals at Norwalk, Ohio, to remain with family in support of her dad.
Despite the welcomed progress, the 157- time tour winner still faces a long and difficult recovery ahead and for the immediate future, will remain in neuro intensive care with visitation restricted to immediate family members only.
John’s family members extend their deepest gratitude to the medical professionals responsible for his well-being and recovery. They deeply appreciate the overwhelming number of heartfelt messages, prayers, support, and concern from the entire automotive and racing industries. Thank you to sponsors, fans, and the media for respecting the privacy of the Force family and the John Force Racing team members.
