I do not think John Force cuts any corners on safety and does everything he can to make all of the funny cars safer.

Exactly! Uncalled for!

After The Eric Medlin accident, Force Racing stepped up chassis, helmets and gear safety big time. Things we haven’t seen yet are in place. I’m sure this incident will lead to more safety innovations and changes.
Walls don’t move! Maybe it’s time for the softer wall barrier.

Eric Medlin and Scott Kalitta sure made everyone look harder at safety and changes were made quickly.

I am not sure a soft wall is the answer. A hard concrete wall directs it back onto track. A soft barrier may absorb shock and dramatically slow car and the sudden stop or slow may be worse? Just do not know and it may be better or worse depending on how it hit the wall?

I do think the Force team takes safety very serious and think Shirley should have kept her mouth shut.

Back to John Force, I saw when they got him out of the car he was alert and did not appear to be knocked out or in pain so I assumed he was probably okay. Now it appears that it was worse than I thought. This just may be a career ending injury. I hope not John Force is the face of Drag Racing. Still the cumulative effect of hard hits to head can be very bad and understand it may cause Dementia, shakes, seizures, parkinsons and other issues. With that in mind even if he gets a clean bill of health I think he probably needs to consider retiring from driving.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Seems like Shirley gets something from Bell Helmets for her comments/recommendation? Just saying!

When everything is coming your way, your probably in the wrong lane.

I really find society interesting. A family is concerned about their member and the society is all jammed up and saying stupid things because they aren't posting pics or news about that family member. This is real life, not FB or twitter. Shirley Muldowney has found a new career thanks to social media.

You think John found any humor in her comments?
It’s private I get that. But nothing said here affects anything.
I’m sure they all know we have his best interest at heart .

Speaking from personal experience, I'm thinking with coming out of the wreck looking pretty good but later being sent to Neuro, my guess would be brain swelling from the multiple impacts...in a coma and confusion when coming around sounds familiar to me....BUT, I'm just thinking out loud. Have no idea what actually happened or how he's doing. I hope for the best for him and although I don't want him to retire, I hope he does. GOAT has nothing left to prove....

Yes, I think John Force is the GOAT and has nothing left to prove. A few weeks ago I would have said he can continue as long as he wants.

Now it appears that this accident is bad and due to his age and potential future problems he should hang up the fire suit. With out saying it looks like they may have put him in a medically induced Coma for a few days. That is scary. Fact is as you get older your brain can not take an impact the same as when you were younger. He is in better shape than many of us but still he is older and hit the wall over 300 MPH.

I have wondered if "soft wall" theory is why many tracks do not even attempt to keep local No Time/Pro Tree spectators from swarming their starting lines. If one of those things gets completely out of shape, those spectators could provide a much softer impact for the competitors. Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

Looks like John Force may be retiring now. Hate to hear that he is the GOAT. My understanding is someone will drive his car for rest of season.
