I have seen him on a couple of older shows before they all went to Proline power for street racing (please) I really thought he was just some loud gambler in a flannel wife beater.

What long term effects exactly? Those so-called long term effects will amount to exactly nothing. Tell me. When was the last time somebody did thus and what, were the long term effects that time? I mean, you talk like this sort of thing has happened before and there are effects to be expected. So when was it and what happened to those workers in the long term?

Oh right. It hasn't happened before so you have no idea what, if any, long term effects it will cause the track workers.

I'm still not exact really sure how they'd be effected. Are they not going to be allowed to have a flag guy at the end of the track? Or will they have to keep spectators off the line so nobody messes with the guy holding on to the back of the car/truck? Will they...only be able to work an hour at a time so they're fresh and can stop anyone who tries to ride on the back of a vehicle again? LOL

Come on man.

Geez....where do you start??
Backward drag races..
Jet cars melting junk cars behind them..
Racing to the finish line and turning around to race back to the starting line..
Giant monster machine "creatures" picking up cars in their "claws" and ripping them apart..
I even watched a "race" at Lions once where two cars sat on the starting line with the carburetors wired full throttle, then started in park and the first one to blow up lost..

Point being, stuff like that was/is more interesting/entertaining to me then 4 lane dragstrips..

You mean like Broadway hoisting a beer while riding to the starting line on the nose of a jet engine dragster that’s lit and huffing smoke out the back ….. lol

WDRA saw an opportunity and took a shot at Darlington. Remember in the initial releases around WDRA that Darlington and Jeff Miles were 1 of 5 tracks/owners that were involved as a critical component to the advisory committee and getting the organization going. I say if Darlington didn't announce sanctioning changes just after mid season that there would have been zero announcement from WDRA and it wouldn't even be a topic.

Where was Jeff Miles when WDRA came to be? He was at Carolina, then was at Memphis and supposed to be buying it, then he showed up at Darlington and is supposed to own it. Does he? Just curious.

I do not understand all the fuss. Not the best of choices that warrants no more than do not do again or you will be banned.

Interesting - so maybe he owns Darlington and maybe he doesn't?

The last sale of Darlington appears to have been in 1988.

406, you're a clown if you are trying to defend JJ and justify him costing Darlington it's sanctioning agreement. People wouldn't be so quick to dismiss WDRA dropping DD if they weren't going IHRA next year. Were they not, I think people would have much stronger opinions. And the long term effects I'm talking about would be the potential closure of DD after losing there sanctioning agreement. They could lose BBB promoters in the future over not having insurance. The effects could've been dire, and I'm sure it never crossed JJ's mind when he decided to pull the stunt. It seems like none of that will happen, and I'm grateful for that. But it easily could have, thanks to the lack of forethought of JJ da Retard.

Well it seems that quite a few people are forgetting how they were when they were young.

The guys that remember being young and foolish...I tip my hat to you...

You know how you can tell if a track is NHRA, IHRA, WDRA, AHRA, or sanction at all, when you pull in the gate?

Me either. Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

I think the same thing when I hear many people talk. Here's what I was doing 50 years ago.

Unlike JJ's buddy we didn't stay on for the whole ride. I've been on one of these when it did a moonshot wheel stand. I would have done what JJ's buddy did when I was young. We didn't know what insurance was.

I noticed JJ's at Jackson this weekend. Probably with even a bigger crowd after all of the publicity!
