With all the new cars having 4 cyl. or V6 with turbo's, what's been your experience or are you aware of any problems the new vehicles are experiencing. Also, any recommendations on current models with surround vision, heads up display and 7 seater?

I had a '15 Ford Edge, 2.0 4cyl turbo. It had plenty of power and good gas mileage. At around 70,000 miles it started to smoke on startup when warm. Apparently there's a seal in the turbo that wears out and allows this.
In time this would cause coking which hampers power and mileage.
I traded for a '23 and a 100K warranty.

had a 19 mustang ecoboost, bought it used with 9,000 mi on it, in early 2020. Right around covid, we had some extra time off so the wife (girlfriend at that time) dis some traveling. I sold it for $7000 more than I paid for it in 2021, and put almost 100,000 mi on it, mostly trouble free. One of the active shutters quit. Ford took care of it. One set of tires, a few software updates, etc-but nothing really major. I drove my 93 Mustang for about 8 months and sold it for a LOT more than I had in it, used the money to buy a new 22 Mustang ecoboost-same car as the 2019 but Ford omitted a few things (don't want to go into that right now...ticks me off). It's not been trouble free but so far, 46,000 miles, it's been a good car. A10 in both. The 22 likes to eat tires (inside edge of the fronts wear) and then they feather and get really, really noisy...about every 25,000 mi. Ford can't find the problem. I am pretty sure I know what the problem is but since "it's within spec" they won't do anything, so I will have to pay someone to fix it for Ford (toe). Every so often Sync3 will act retarded. Once a year maybe. Runs fine, drives fine, plenty of power. If you didn't know any better, you'd think it was a diesel by the way it pulls hard right in the lower-middle of the RPM band (2000-3500). I like it, good driver and wasn't but $34,400. Probably better deals out there but I wanted it, and it's the only new vehicle I've every purchased.

Wife wants an Explorer, but right now her acadia is holding together and she doesn't drive it much so I don't see a reason to go spend another $35,000. I'd like to get an Explorer ST but I don't think the timing is right. I thought about selling the Mustang and the F250 and just picking up a DD F150 but F150's have priced me out of that market.

My son just got a 2026 F150 with the coyote 5.0, 10 speed ato , 4 wheel drive and put dual turbos on it. It's a real sleeper.

It doesn't really apply to daily drivers, but the actual response to "there is no replacement for displacement" is yes, cubic dollars will do it. Take care. Tom Worthington
