Why was it shut down?

Few reason I heard a developer bought it after Johny Davis passed away. He was a nephew of the owners family. But ch of other rumor not sure what's true.

I believe the track shut down during or shortly after COVID. My uncle, Richard Taylor, was a Richmond Dragway racer, and Johnny Davis spoke at his funeral, maybe 2007-08 time frame? Mr. Davis seemed like a good guy.

Many, many, many years ago Johnny Davis had a funny car called Jumpin John he used to carry on an open trailer (yes that long ago)I bought that trailer from him when I went from a 4 speed to an automatic and could no longer flat tow my car and he got an enclosed. History

I only raced there one time (probably 2015 or so), but man that place was awesome. They could get the cars down the track efficiently for sure.

I thought this was track that Scot Wiess uncle owned back in early 90's, Maybe confusing with another Virginia track. Thinking Dan Wiess but never been good with names.
