The 2026 Kingman Street Drags will be Oct. 9-11, see link above.

We were hoping to have the drag quad ready for this race but looks like my son will have to take his drag bike. We have been thinking about taking the Camaro. It would probably fit into the Hot Rod I class & would require a DOT tire; that's one of the reasons we've been testing the Hoosier DOT DR3 radial. Plus, this would be a heads up racing.

The Div. 7 bracket finals are on the weekend also. I didn't plan to run either race & had a race scheduled in CA. that got cancelled. I need to make a decision on which race I'll attend.

Seems like heads-up with your adjustable boost would be a natural....might have to kinda drive it out on the leave but.......

I have a great street record at heads-up at this event. While it has been some time since competing at this race, my son seems to think I could mop up. I'm always confident when I go to a race, but I'm not sure if I would mop up!

This event is 1/8th mile on an asphalt street with some glue. I have a 5.60 bracket tune that goes 5.8x-5.9x on a similar outlaw track in Winnemucca, NV. While I have limited time on these Hoosier DR3 DOT radials, they are designed for no-prep. This last race at Bakersfield on a bracket prep I went a 1.31 60' on them deep staged. I'm going to Winnemucca the end of Aug. & plan to use the DOTs there. Anyway, if I can run 5.80x there, I'll probably go to Kingman. The DA at Winnemucca is around 7000'+ & I've been 5.8x-9x already using power management.

Dave, the plan would be to go with our hotter tune, more boost, better fuel & power management.

Below is our launch retard that will go a low 1.4x 60' at Winnemucca. I'm reasonably sure I can trim it up to get in the high 1.3x 60' at a much lower DA & a little better prep.

Thanks for the info BK...since I sold my junk Im really missing racing so I try to keep an eye on your activity to get my racing fix.....Does that street race offer a good payout? Seems like they'd get a lot of local business sponsor money.....I hope you don't clean up to much...My last race in Tucson I cleaned up..... for an hour after the race when I had an trans oil cooler line come off and I dumped ATF from my pit spot next to you all the way to the gates....I told my truck "what the ****???" I didnt sell you, just the dragster and trailer...lol

As Brian knows I was involved in the local Kingman drag racing scene for 11 years. We had some great events during air shows at Kingman as well as starting up the Kingman Street drags.
I wish there were some simplified rules for more competitive racing because the fans want side by side close racing.
Also this year is a diaper rule for ALL COMPETITORS. If you want to race your mom's stock transportation module it needs a diaper.
Also, the rules need a tune up for parity.
I'd like to see them do tech for safety rules only and do index classes of 1/2 second from,say, 5.00 to 8.00 with any mods legal like tires, nitrous, etc just fit it into your index and however you want to hit the index is up to you.
I'll always support the events but sorry, I won't race.

I'm glad you chimed in on the event.

I raced the majority of the early Kingman Street Drags. They were the best of times IMO.

As for the rebooted Kingman Street Drags, I haven't been. My son has participated in a couple & is signed up for this year. I'm still on the fence for numerous different reasons.

I agree with most of what you stated in your post! The only thing I'm unsure of is the diaper rule. According to the 2026 rules: Pure Street, Grudge, JR. Dragster & Motorcycle don't require them. Maybe you know something more about "ALL COMPETITORS", please share! While it doesn't apply to me; I have a diaper on the car.

You have some great inputs to the race & I'm pretty sure you have shared them with the event promoters!

Well, I'm glad to see that some classes don't require a diaper. I haven't looked at the website for a couple of months but I thought it said all competitors. Good!
I expect there will be a full car count and it will be a fun event.
