coolroyI was there, I have supported the race for many years. I know the car owner of Treys car. The “Hunter was provoked” is bull crap. Hunter provoked Trey by playing games and trying to auto start Trey by turning his wheels after lighting 3 bulbs. Trey ripped on him after he beat him! Period. Trey was provoked first. If you have to try to auto start me or cheat the system to beat me you deserve to be ripped on. I know Sly Fox and respect that he doesn’t want go ride in the cop car as I’m 57 but if Hunter had done that to me or my son I would have taken the ride cause my foot would have been in someone’s backside. To all you guys that want to try to light the 3rd bulb and put it out turning your tire YOU are racing dirty in my opinion by manipulating the timing system. Nobody has the right to stage last. It may be your preference but it is not your right. I have a video of this being done at 3 cars by the winner of one of the 50 granders at the million. I was told Randy Folk put about 5 guys on warning for doing this. Don’t know if that’s true or not but if he did Kudos to him. As far as how he handled the Hunter incident I think the wrong decision was made. Hunter, in my opinion should have been kicked out.

I agree with all of this and would add if I had anything to do with it if it was my choice I would have kicked him out and banned him for life and possibly called the cops on him for assault. No place to run anyone over with a car.
Some of you may not think it was a big deal but if it was your car or your kid you may have different opinion.

BuckyI don't get the hate for the three bulb flicker. As long as you aren't both playing a staging dual, and you just stage in reasonable time, there is no way to time you out.

1320racerThe comments here are not about a 3 bulb flicker, rather a staging technique while legal, allows the racer executing it to stage last every time and time out his opponents that either don’t know how auto start works or didn’t catch the momentary stage bulb on/off. It’s use by all in Patton’s camp and several others.

BG7X77What am I not getting. If you use the flicker momentary whatever you want to call it. You don't stage last you technically staged first. They just didn't realize it. Am I wrong?

Phil DeesYou don't always trigger Autostart with the flickers. The trick is to know how long to stay staged to start the tree.

Phil DeesSo, Ed if you know, can you flicker the bulb on Compulink after Stage Lok is controlling your bottom bulb?
November 08, 2021, 06:11 AM
HolytownThe people who trigger the auto start, by turning the wheel to turn the bulb on and back off are showing their crutch. They must stage last, which is why they're going to great lengths to be sure they can force their opponents to stage before them.
Best way to deal with this would be do a short burnout next to them and get in to do it to them first.

TurkPhil,
Thats a great question, now in an accutime system you will surly see someone pull this move and the stage light will go on and off because when stage lock is turned on it does not lock on the stage bulb.
Would need a Compulink expert on this one as my guess would from what i was told when SL is used in a compulink it locks on the stage bulb on so turning the wheel trick would still work electronically but not visually as the stage bulb stays on.
Keep in mind not every track has stage lock as thats an add on item tracks have to pay for.

TomRFrom what I have read and understand, Computlinks Stage lock only starts when 4 bulbs are lit for the pre-set amount of time.
From MDIR's website
quote:
Prior to either car entering the Pre-Stage beam, the starter manually triggers a switch that tells the computer to arm the AutoStart system. The Timing System takes control of the run from that point on, eliminating the possibility of human error. Once both cars have satisfied the “Staged Minimum” time preset (usually .5 seconds, but varies from class to class), the StageLok sequence initiates before the tree is fired allowing the racer 1” of rearward travel before the stage beam will go out. This 1” allowance is active through the entire AutoStart System, until the algorithm has reached the green light - at which point a rearward movement will not result in a red light foul.

BG7X77So like I said. It's not about staging last. Your staged unbeknownst to your opponent. Am I wrong????

On Compulink, 4 bulbs have to be lit for Stage-lok to activate.
By turning the wheel with 3 bulbs lit, you are just starting the timer, not stage lock.

TomRBack when Compulink first introduced autostart, some drivers used to back through the beams very slowly when their opponent was already pre-staged to activate the timer, especially if their opponent had to stage last. It worked very well to time them out as long as the starter flipped the switch to activate the system. It saw 3 bulbs and started the timer.

Jerry KatheSome of these players must have an ego way bigger than their tool. What’s wrong with running your own lane using your own routine?
The only time I change my routine is when two of these gamers are sitting there not willing to go in first. At the home track I can predict this when I roll around the corner and see who’s up there, Ill just shut it off in the water and wait……and sometimes wait….then wait some more. Ridiculously childish IMO with no respect for the event or the racers behind them.
Probably nine times out of ten, I’m in first and you can set your watch on the time I took to burn out to both bulbs lit…..
