Look up NHRA financials on line and you'll see where the money is going. Mark Yeager

I was not able to find much but did find some interesting things. NHRA has an annual budget of around 100 Million. With Executive payroll taking up 20% about 20 Million a year. Top ten are making over $200,000 a year and several are making almost a million a year. Did not say where rest of the 80 million dollars a year goes to? Also it said 93% of Income was "Program Services" and I wonder exactly what that is? I know it is none of my business but Darn it I want to know where the money comes from and where it is going? Another question to me is with that kind of annual budget why doesn't NHRA buy more tracks like for instance Dallas Raceway was a nice nearly new facility that cost 12.5 million to build and they could have got it for 2.5 million and would have a long term asset? Would be a small one time expense with long term value. Now Dallas Raceway is a big truck junkyard..... There is so many things with NHRA I do not understand, looks like they go out of their way to run off Spectators, Sponsors and Racers. Seems like there are many things they could do to protect long term like buying some tracks that are available at good price. https://postimg.cc/gallery/np3zpruo/ "Dunning-Kruger Effect" -a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. SMI also owns Las Vegas. The Las Vegas drag Strip is a "Stand Alone" track which doesn't effect other racing venues as Sonoma Raceway does. Las Vegas drag strip is there for the long haul. When everything is coming your way, your probably in the wrong lane.

They also own Bristol and Charlotte. Bruton loved drag racing, at one time he wanted to build a drag strip at TMS but could not get a National event because of the agreement Billy Meyer had with the NHRA not allowing another National event within a certain amount of miles of the Motorplex so it was never built

I'm sure insurance is a large cost as well as the in house TV program. The TV crew is unionized but not the track crew. I know they fly at least 25 track workers to each race and provide hotel rooms. I'm not in a bad mood, I just look that way.........

Well...NHRA released the 2026 National Event Schedule. Good news is Sonoma is on the list. However, they dropped the spring Vegas National! Looks like the us west coasters are screwed when it comes to chasing National points. Sad state of affairs. Mark Yeager

It's a puzzling and unfortunate change for the left-coasters, but you can hit 6 nationals with 15 fewer hours of windshield time than I can. Tony Leonard

That's insane. I'm looking at 118 hrs. of driving for (6) Nationals and another 90 hrs. for (8) Divisionals. Mark Yeager

I had you in the low 90s for Pomona x2, Phoenix, Sonoma, Seattle, Vegas. That's straight road time, not including stops. I ran 6 nationals once, and don't see myself ever doing it again. That was with a gold card and two fly-ins, and it was still insane. Doesn't help that it was a stretch of 6 events out of 7 in a row on the NHRA tour. Tony Leonard

What is that $5,000 for tow truck fuel alone? Not to mention food etc, Entry Fees and race fuel? Wow! Ouch! https://postimg.cc/gallery/np3zpruo/ "Dunning-Kruger Effect" -a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. As a long time racer at Sonoma, I hated that they canceled the LODRS event there! That being said, I REALLY hate trying to get to and from the track from the far away affordable lodging [two rooms]. No easy local travel with commuter, truck, wine country tourist, and racers all trying to share the long, limited and crowded access.

With zero divisional’s here ( Sonoma) I see no chance of full fields at Seattle or Sonoma 26. I bet fuel classes struggle to fill again too. If I were a spectator I’d ask for a refund. The only real excitement was Brittany flying. I did enjoy Pro Stock hauling ass. Is it worth the road trip? When you can’t break even with a win then it’s pretty simple. Yes our fuel costs here are double yours. California Screaming! Raceless in California!
