NHRA Phoenix National pulled from schedule
Fern,
I started going down the in the 90's when it was still Firebird. I remember when they put up the big circus tent and started their casino. I watched it grow over the years. It is quite the facility now.
There used to be a lot of desert between Phoenix and Chandler. No More. Now you can't tell when you left one and joined the other. They have met in the middle. There is lot's of desert around the race track. Personally I would like to see them do something like Vegas. A commercial development centered around racing. Vegas is a huge success.
This is a 10myear plus project so it probably won't affect the track for a long time.
Nick is still going to have a place to go racing.

As long as the track makes a profit it will stay open would be my bet. When I first went there in the 80s I thought it was an awesome track, I believe it was the super bowl warm up race to the Winternats. First time I raced there in the early 90s and parked in the dust bowl I wasn't so impressed lol.
Hopefully its stays open for years to come, we cant afford to lose another track

Just in time for the announcement that the track in Richmond Virginia will not re-open in 2021.

Over and out, done and gone.

I remember hearing that they were considering moving the Motorsports park a few miles down I-10 towards Casa Grande.
Anyone else heard this?
I won my first bracket race there at Firebird and also my first Summit race there as well.

I'm not in a bad mood, I just look that way.........

Didn't they just spend a lot of money re-doing the track last year?

I've never been comfortable seeing one close with the hopes of a relocation in the near future. The new facility never comes. With the amount of land and the expense to build, I unfortunately don't see new tracks being built. We must do whatever possible to support and keep the ones we still have open.

Lucas Oil 2021 Schedule still shows the Tucson divisional in February. I saw the Regional race in October.

The Tucson International Raceway (TIR) web site said that they postponed the LODRS until October. Vegas might be next to cancel or postpone the April event.

Post from Mike Rice D7 Director

One simple question for racers that race at or travel to events in Division 7 (but also applies to many other tracks around the country).

Did you know the following?

Albuquerque, Samoa, Redding, Tucson, Bakersfield, Western Colorado, Maui and Kauai are all on state or county property while Barona and Wild Horse are on tribal land.
If you think for one second that I enjoy having to reschedule races you’d be a fool. I feel for the track operators trying to keep their businesses alive and keep the sport we all love and enjoy going. With the info above, maybe...just maybe, you’ll start to get an idea of what we deal with in this part of the country. That’s 10 of 16 tracks in the division that are basically at the mercy of the government during these times.

This is not a political statement nor do I want to debate politics here. You all can share your views and do that elsewhere by. I just want people to think... rather than ***** every time something has to be postponed maybe I could do something to help and support these tracks....or pretty soon you might not have a track/series to ***** about.

Well said Mike. Until we have "herd immunity " everything is up in the air.

I was just watching Meet The Press and they had some guy on there that said that we are far from the darkest days on the virus and things are going to get a lot worse.

Okay, my friend Jeff sent me the Farcebook post. Well, no hurry to get ready now. I can go to the shooting range instead, at least it’s on private property!

Authorities have destroyed millions of lives, livelihoods, business's & the US economy. What do ya think they're gonna change their tune now? Confused

They've been saying that for a year, to get us to this point. Nobody I know, know's anyone sick with covid.

Yet authorities lives remain unaffected. See how that works?

They have a huge parking lot down the street from my house that offers free Covid testing. I never have seen one car in that lot.
