Nice, good luck Big S!

I'm not racing our Div 7 finals. I decided to go heads-up racing at a street legal race. They are both on the same dates.

I love going to the bracket finals. Wish I could have gone this year.

Hate that it is back at the Plex though. I liked it at Ardmore.

No way Ardmore could handle 15 teams and 500 cars. NHRA may have to go back to 30-40 cars per team from 60. IMO they are going to struggle to get the Friday and Saturday gamblers done, plus race of champions and index classes and then all the games and party's they have planed done.
Still have to run the main race on Sunday.

I think there is 4 tracks that made the switch from IHRA to NHRA mid season when IHRA collapsed

won't be that many. Most of those teams don't have 20 cars and there will be a bunch of no shows due to the 100* forecast all weekend.

Mike
I know some were pissed on FB about the no buybacks for the gamblers races. Guess we will find out on Thursday. We lost some parking to Concho but At least the Motorplex isn't parking in the dirt like XRP is

Official entries is 554 cars and bikes
After dodging a couple of rain showers on Friday they stopped Friday gamblers after round 2 and and gave the remaining cars their entry fee back so they could run the Race of champions and index classes to completion. They got done at 2:30 am
The Saturday gamblers finished about 3am.
Championship Sunday is under way and will be another long hot day. No TT so it Should be done a little quicker today.

Total cluster F$3k, had to quit and give everybody their money back Friday night after second round, Saturday they managed to finish sometime after 2 AM and Sunday hitting the ground running at 9:30 am they didn't finish until 10:30 pm. Had no business doing 2 gamblers races with that many cars. They need to revert back to only 1 team per track with a max of 50 racers. Right now it's nothing more than a participation trophy race and anybody what wants to can call up a track and get on a team the week before. The staging lanes on Sunday could have been a disaster had it not been for Ryan Gleghorn stepping in and showing NHRA how to pull cards. And the Motorplex collected another car this year. That place just eats racecars every year.

I think it is good to get as many cars as possible. But it does have to be ran efficiently. Buybacks no problem with them if they have time.
Second I think it is stupid to run the Finals on Sunday. They should run Gamblers race on Friday for those who want to. Finals on SATURDAY and that allows for people to get back home on Sunday or to finish the race on Sunday should the SATURDAY Finals take too long due to Weather or wrecks / oil downs. Then run a Gamblers race on Sunday for those who want to race it.
We have people come from all over 5 state area and when you race on Sunday and then they have to be back at work on Monday it makes it hard for them. Some tow 6 or 8 hours each way. Those tracks have a harder time getting enough cars for a full team and that is part of reason. What if you get rained out on Sunday Finals? You would have many people leave to get back home even if they were not eliminated. When they run race on Sunday most people pack up and leave as soon as they are out so they can get back home. If they ran it on Saturday I think many more people would stay longer to cheer on and support their team. Stupid to run it on Sunday and makes no sense to me.

Another thing that I have always disliked is Hotdog eating contests, Big wheel races, costumes and dress up bull and silly little games. Play ball, we are here to race, lets get it on. That is another benefit of having so many cars they did not have time for silly little games.

Not much you can do about Heat and rain. If you ran it later in the year like November it would be cooler but also more chance of rain and different weather conditions than we race most of the year. Not a lot of good options there just deal with it best you can.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Curly, they have always ran the championship race on Sunday, but normally they would run the ROC and first round on Saturday for the championship race. Pretty sure they will go back to that format next year.
No hot dog eating contest this year but they did have a Chile cook off that paid $500 to win if you want to call that silly. Also had a finish line party with a DJ and free beer a pizza Friday night Big Grin
