Oh man, Larry. And that just happened on Sunday That is painful, especially looking at the situation, and what should have happened. Sorry it went that way, makes me wonder if your opponent saw it before he staged. And this is why I would try to get the dials corrected, as Big Steve did: Because if you didn't and you are that guy, (for example Larry's opponent), suppose you see the mistake, say nothing, and take home the Wally. (Note: I am NOT saying he did). If you knew that you snagged it on a race that you probably/almost certainly would have lost, but it was tilted your way big-time by a human error. To me, that would take away much, (if not all), of the personal satisfaction. Sure, your brother-in-law who doesn't race might think you were king for a day, but I would almost be embarrassed to show my racing friends the timeslip. This message has been edited. I have not seen that happen during elims, but I HAVE heard a newbie race announcer calling out the R/T's as each pair was heading down track during a divisional race. It didn't take a big stretch of the imagination to think that some sharp crew members were shouting into their radios to give their driver a tip! As soon as I heard a "Dump, DUMP!!", then a couple pair later I heard a "You got him covered by a BUNCH!", I hopped on the golf cart and paid a visit to the tower. Was told about 10 guys beat me to it. Dan "Jim" Moore Much too young to feel this damn old!!

I went back and watched it on NHRA TV. Neither driver looked like they prestaged. He tried to tell them it wasn't right, but there was no dial on the window except 10. The call was made (probably the right call) to race by the tower or starter. Since this is class racing, they could have just put him at the SS/KA index of 11.25 if they didn't have an actual dial. He would have been holding nearly a second, but its easier to get rid of that, rather than miss a dial by over three tenths.

There was a good dial, both guys knew it was was not what was intended but it was a screw up by the guy who lost, not a wrong input dial in by the tower. Nothing could be done at that point because the guy had a good dial on his window just not the one he wanted. This isn't the same as what the OP is about though. ____________________________ 2017 and 2018 Osage Casinos Tulsa Raceway Park No-Box Champion 2018 Div4 Goodguys Hammer award winner
