I won King of the Track once with a .06x light in a "best package shootout" style runoff. Every class winner broke out except me: SP, MC, SM, all 3 classes of JD.

The difference between ignorance and stupidity. Ignorance is lack of knowledge. Stupidity is the inability to learn. Don't be stupid

My Luckiest (and easiest) win was back in the 90's at a $5000 to win race at Capitol Raceway. I'm down to 3 cars and have the bye run to the final. (Quarter mile) I watched a pretty 10sec 68 Camaro from Atco Raceway vs a 11sec black fox body mustang from Capitol. I was asked about a split and naturally I said nope - I'm not talking about a split until this round is run. Tree comes down, the Mustang launches green and grenades the planetary, the Camaro goes red. So a bunch of us are sitting there on jersey wall going who wins? Well since its NHRA rules 1st or worst, the Mustang wins the rd and the Camaro gets 3rd. Now the Mustang won't even move with a exploded PG, and I'm sitting on on the jersey wall, and fellow racer Severn Johnson comes over and says your the luckiest SOB I've ever seen, you just won a no split $5000 sitting on your azz.....and I sezz, well by golly Ollie I think your right. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes.....Steve (I still can't believe this happened and will never happen again).

Got to the finals at BMP for 5K one night for 5K. One Speed Ralph rides up and says you won the other guy can't make it. So, I decide I'm going to run it out anyway. I go .007 and dead zero on the single. It wasn't even my best package for the night. Best part is there had been no split worked out and I got all 5K in small bills.

I have been lucky enough to win quite a few races but one was pure luck. We were in a points battle and every single round I ran someone in top ten in points. One round I ran the points leader and he took off and his car just died. His throttle cable broke. Another round my opponent broke his converter and he could not run any where near his dial. Most every round was crazy like that. I won a few rounds that night but on that day I felt it was more luck than skill. I still took that winners check to the Bank. Yup, I cashed it, I did and I spent it to.

There have been days when I was hitting the tree and driving good and then there have been times when I have to say it was luck. And I have had both Good and Bad luck on race day.

I know that most every race I have won there is always one round where it could have easily gone the other way. You put down a good package and they were right there and decided by a few thou. Or you do terrible and they go red by .001 or break out by a few pennies giving you the win anyway in spite of bad driving. I think that most people who win a lot can honestly say you get a lucky round once in a while when you need it most.
One other thing about LUCK. I watched one racer at Bracket finals who is really good, multi time World Champion. But I noticed he had a whole lot of people go red against him. He is good, he is absolutely one of best drivers in the Country. Never seen so many people get scared because they are running him and go go red giving it to him. I do not have that kind of luck. Lol.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Even though I don’t believe in luck my last win I guess could be called that. It was for a Wally too.

I just flat missed it. I had been .010, .004, .039, .002, .049 on a by then came the finals. I was stupid late .092 and carrying a solid 2 my car spun downtrack to 2 over. My guy was .023 and .010 under. Yay for me. LOL
