Looks like NHRA is cutting the Payout for Pro teams to next to nothing.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

I have a friend in Atlanta who just sent me an article recently written in Auto Week by Top Fuel Racer Doug Foley. Mr. Foley feels that the NHRA is in more trouble than they are willing to admit and their days are numbered. He states that in 2021 there will be many events with less than 11 cars, and the NHRA won't have much of a "Show" to sell to the public and to Sponsors. Cutting the purse while doing nothing to limit the cost to compete with a Fuel Car is a certain way to end the dance.

While $13,000 would cover most of the nitro bill ($40 a gallon / 325 gallons) but not the fuel for the transporter, broken parts, tire bill and crew. So if you didn't win, then what......electric Top Fuel? At this rate I can see most, if not all of the 2021 events being held at Indy. I wonder how that will go over with the other National Event tracks that count on that income to stay afloat?

A more reasonable idea (but certainly not popular) would be to go to Blown Alky or injected nitro. Last weekend Megan Meyer ran 5.09 @ 1320 feet with several recent runs in the 280 mph range. The expense of operating one of these cars must be less than a T/F Anything.

Yea I know this is like trying to sell a one second reduction in the Super Classes. PLEASE save the slings and arrows, I'm not interested an any debate.

I was told some info last week that came from a source that is pretty high up on the food chain and his words, not mine....NHRA IS DONE....

What that exactly means is unknown. Can they declare bankruptcy as in Chapter 11 I have no idea but 2020 has rocked their boat and it’s not known what comes next.

Not a lot of positive news lately in drag racing.

I raced at Atco this past weekend and it is rumored to be gone....everyone hopes it’s not sold but lips are sealed right now down there on the subject.

Cut the officers salaries, the board of directors salaries, anything but the purses that provide the back bone of NHRA. Unless that is their goal.

I don't know the IHRA is going to be the answer to NHRA folding. It would take a major shift in Track Sanctioning across the Country, that's something IHRA can not pull off.

Before I go any further, I don't believe that they will fold but they have to make changes. Any "New" NHRA will need to focus on greater emphasis toward Sportsman Racers. If the Sportsman Racers abandon NHRA they will have nothing left, Wally's dream will die. That Ladies and Gentlemen benefits NO ONE!

I live in an area that lost our local circle track several years ago, it crushed the High Performance business/Industry in this area, A high percentage filed bankruptcy within the next two years. Sportsman Racing will continue but it will look very different IF The NHRA folds. You can imagine the impact it would have on large Performance Companies like Jeg's and Summit Racing and the Programs/Series they support.

At this point most of the is conjecture, but unfortunately very possible.

I'd love for Atco Dragway to be sold! If they kept it a dragstrip.

The owner (Len Capone) is an as5ole that ran it into the ground and chased all the locals away.

He is not selling it to keep it as a dragstrip though. He's selling it to make it an auto auction.
He came in after purchasing the track promising to return it to it's former glory, all talk and no action!
He's a piece of 5hit.

I doubt anyone would purchase the track to be used as a race track anymore. I guess parking cars must be a good business.

Everyone around here has heard rumors of a true drag racer purchasing it for ten years but that's not going to happen. He's smarter than that considering what the current owner has done.

Rant over. I'm somewhat passionate about this since I moved to Atco to be near the track.
I had a good 20 years.

Cool

Langdon can go and run 3-5 big money bracket races within the next month & a half and make over 4 times what he wins driving for Kalitta in just one of those races thats the saddest part of the whole situation. simple as that!

Ya'll don't really believe wealthy people race for peanuts do ya?

It was peanuts before, nothing has changed. It's still peanuts.

It's not the peanuts that's gonna stop them. If anything it's other projects like secluded hidden private airstrips and adjoining underground mansions.

I've got friends who've been working on properties 15 miles down dirt roads since 2007, in anticipation.

I Told ya!

As I watched a Kalitta Air 747 takeoff this morning,I realized that NHRA paying $15,000 to the Winner of Top Fuel really won't change the landscape of the sport of drag racing that much.
