All I get from this is that the man had his golf cart in the wrong place, in an "unauthorized" place. What more do you take away from that? Because once again I'm not really seeing any details.

If someone broke some rules then fine... do what you need to do. All im asking is that if you make a public statement and suspend and fine someone then at least give us a detailed statement

Really...how much do you need spelled out ? How many national events do the ones crying on here run ? Do you realize that there are restricted areas for specific reasons one of which might be to keep a powered vehicle from harming a spectator or themselves . Evidently he knowingly at some race prior to the gators was in a restricted area on a motor vehicle and was warned and probably put on probation . Evidently he didn't care to abide by the safety rules and warning and decided he was immune to them and tried it again to be caught , fined and suspended . Good grief .....

“Involving an individual working the event.” Sounds like he either ran over somebody, or nearly ran over somebody, all while in a restricted area. And a second offense to boot. Don’t know how old this guy is, but probably a bit late in life to be learning that actions have consequences. Mike

That sounds like an interesting story. Care to elaborate?

I don’t know the man or anything about why he was fined and suspened. My memory tells me he was suspended previously a number of years ago and may have a history with NHRA that is not good. I can’t really recall but think his previous suspension was a big one.

Good luck getting a track operator to turn down an entry, and that is the correct position. NHRA makes it CRYSTAL CLEAR that they want NO PART of your piddly bracket races, EXCEPT when it's time to collect for memberships, competition numbers, and licenses. However, I do know that the IRS will send a letter requesting that if a certain racer earns any purse money, it be forwarded directly to the IRS. The severity of the fine, and the mention of "an individual" working the event leads me to believe that this was a pissing match that escalated into verbal or physical assault of a worker, and that deserves swift and severe punishment. The first incident was 20 years ago. Someone in the Cali office still holds a grudge. The rest is for Rich to say if he wants.

This is correct , I was pitted next to him a week or 2 after the first incident. The track officials came to his pit and advised him to load up and leave. I believe this was in 1998. 4 X Track Champion ( 2 & 2 ) 2 X Run off Winner

20 years is a long time ago, just as 10 grand is a lot of MONEY... I don't know all the details...but the above is true no matter.

Typical NHRA money grab - If the NHRA really wanted this and Leah's incident to be an example & serve as a deterrent, they should probably go into a little more detail so people actually know what got them fined & bounced. Billy Duhs - BD104X@gmail.com

it looks like NHRA's new favorite number is 10K and they are enjoying handing out these fines. The rule book is big and clear. Maybe they will start handing out 10K fines for every infraction in their rule book.

You guys calling this “a money grab” are way off. My guess is, NHRA figures the guy won’t pay the $10,000 and they’ll never see him again at an NHRA event, which is exactly what they want. The TF driver busted for speeding, on the other hand, lives on the high roller side of the pit area, and I’m sure the cash has already changed hands. Mike

Actually, it has already happened before. A banned racer showed up at an event at an NHRA facility, and was sent home. __ Michael Beard - staginglight@gmail.com Staging Light Graphic Design, Printing & Event Marketing
