I was watching the Gambler's race last night.
Once again, the video coverage is outstanding. It's free and blows NHRA.TV away.
The race looks very organized and track prep seems great.
I need to add this race to my "bucket list".
I never was that excited to go,because it was always conveyed to me that if you weren't. 00x and dead on x,you had no chance of winning a round.
I can definitely say that wasn't true last night.Maybe today will be different?

Their were some pretty bad packages and didn't look much better today. I saw one guy win with a 100+ package. I got my friend to put up $500 for the best package all weekend and I don't think I ever heard it mentioned but I think I heard someone had a .001 package. But there I was on the tree pretty good, car had made 5 time runs within .005 so I was ready. When I started it up for the gamblers race it wouldn't hardly run. I limped down staged and it just about didn't leave. I limped back to the trailer and in spite of every ones efforts, no clue what the problem is. I loaded up and came home. Thanks to everyone who helped and a special thanks to George Windsor for coming and checking on me every morning--you don't know how much that meant. Jed and Steve got delt a handful but they were doing a great job of dealing with it. Thanks for everything

That race was well run considering a few minor problems.Weather did not stop them. I think 519 entries with about 9 rounds to win. Great model for racing that hard. Congrats to all workers and racers. Smile

Well our best package prize deal worked out better than we expected with 3 .001 packages. Don't know who's idea it was to have a run off but that was a genius way to do it. Although I never mentioned it I just figured the first of the 3 would get it. The way it was done was much better. If life lets me go another year maybe we can do it next year.
Haven't had a chance to address my limping car yet but its in the garage and the a/c is on so I'll get to it after lunch. I had a ball at the WFC.

It's been on our bucket list for quite a while and we finally made the trip. We had the independence showdown local but decided to go to Bristol instead and glad we did, It was a great race and look forward to going back. My kid was rolling pretty good Saturday but kicked it red 7th rd, couldn't get much going Sunday. Very cool track !!!
Congrats to Dave Harvey on his 25k win but a hearbreaker at 3 cars when his kid went .001 red. Would have been a father/son 25k final !!

When we got to the part of the video where we are facing you I think I heard that mouse again. LOL

Didn't sound like it took throttle clean on any pass you made. I know it's a work in progress.

There's a couple of things at work there... Bristol is stupid tight for Deep, but had an .045 spot shallow. For deep staging, I'm killing ignition timing down to 21 or 22 degrees to kill R/T. Being up on the mountain doesn't help.

An intermittent fuel issue started on my 4th test n' tune pass on Thursday. I think/hope it's just a bad fuel issue. Same brand as usual, but I bought it from a different station than normal. It left clean against Denny, which is why I came up .000 and was fast downtrack. On the second pass in the video, you can clearly hear it drop out for an instant when the top bulb came on. Eek Just a liiiittle distracting! Lucky to come up .007 on that one. The flutter bit me a few times, leaving me late and slow.

Plan is to change fuel, fuel filter, and re-do some of the EFI wiring connections. Once I get that gremlin knocked out, I can get back to tuning. I think it's going to be a good combination.

What the heck? Who needs all that new fangled stuff? Wink Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.
