I have a flywheel that goes on a 1960 7hp Kohler engine. The flywheel has a piece where the "key" is located that has broken a piece off. I have the piece and wanted some opinions on whether it would be worth using JB Weld to hold the piece back together.( Cast iron). Other than having a belt that is used to start the engine connected, no other stress on the part while running. Opinions?

Do you care if the piece breaks again and causes damage to the engine or whatever it's powering? If the answer is NO, then just send it! If the answer is yes, hmmm /35 years ago, I was running a 383 Chrysler in a dirt track car. Hit the wall one night and bent the front clip to the point that it broke one of the motor mount bolt bosses in the block. Being "financially challenged" at the time, I didn't have money to go find another block and have all the necessary machine work done to build another engine, so I just JB'ed the broken boss back onto the block and bolted everything back together....ran the car another three seasons with it that way.

Don't know if there's a causal relationship but, I JB Welded a quarter to the exit of my driveway, which has a public sidewalk right next to it, and it's been there for at least 3 months. Previous attempt with structural adhesive only lasted 2 weeks. We're talking real live experience here. Illegitimi non carborundum
