I also asked this question in the Class Racer Forum.

Because it's Sunday and I'm curious. Has anyone known of or seen anyone use one of these Sniper 4500 systems in Super Class competition?

Would one use it with an under carb stop or a linkage stop?

Dennis Hay in S/G and Keith Winters in S/C.

I looked at Dennis Racepak graph and it looked awesome!

With that being said I’m sure those guys can make it work. I’d probably run over my foot or blow the engine up if I did it.

it would have to be a linkage stop, because with a under carb stop, the TPS would be at 100% at the same time the engine was sitting at 4000 rpm and a light load.

Bob at Madcap Racing Engines has some customers using it in the super classes and I think he has it on his personal car.

I agree that a linkage stop would make the most sense in this application. Puddling of fuel on the under carb stop could be a problem. On a Holley produced video there is clearly an under carb stop on the dragster they used for testing. That could be there from previous use though.

I seem to have gotten this thread in the wrong forum. Could the administration please move it to the Tech Forum?

I took a hard look at this system myself, Bruce...I am trying everything I can to make my pump gas 496 as consistent as possible...looks like it might help but would need after the fact expertise in computer tuning...at this point I decided not to go down that road...it is plug and play to begin with but after that not so much...sigh...

Bruce, my advice is don't make it harder than it is. A carb, plate stop, data logger and weather station is all you need for a deadly consistent super class car.

You're right. It's a huge expense to just "try out" in the hopes of having a more dialable consistent car only to find out it didn't work. But, I'm curious as I said. If it was the answer we'd see more of them in Super competition, I suppose. That doesn't mean someone hasn't made it work. I'd like to know and maybe a few others would, too.

My only EFI experience is with the 4150 Sniper system in a dyno cell on an engine that wasn't making as much power as it should.

Hey Bruce, look through this thread some. It's older but could give you some direction on people using it.

Just noticed Bucky was in that thread. It had been a while since I looked at it.

Bruce, if you are having issues setting up your car for super class racing. Fly me down Wink and I’ll have it running deadly in 1 day or just call me Big Grin but you do need a plate stop, data logger and weather station.

Don R here I believe is using that system in SC and it has worked very well for them. They are on race gas.

I have all those things (AltaLab, CC7+, and RacePak) and changed to an under carb stop a little more than a year ago. The under carb stop a monumental change. The cruise RPM graph is flat as a pancake. Cars good, driver, not so much. Mechanical perfection won't help there.

I was curious and bored so I asked. I'll talk throttle stop racing to anyone (check your PM). It truly fascinates me on how difficult it can be to get those planets to line up.

I'm a Holley dealer and this question comes up quite often.

I tell people if you want a challenge it may be a good idea, but it is hard to beat a properly setup carb. The cars these days are dialed just fine with a carb.

That being said I've been asked to run one on my car, so I'm considering.

I don't think so. I was looking into getting one but didn't want to switch back to gas and couldn't find anything about one for methanol.
