It know Dave, the shipping cost is out of reason. Several times, I have decided not to buy something because of the shipping cost. Larry Woodfin

Re certifying seat belts every two years: One more waste of money. This might have been a good idea decades ago when the race cars sat outside on a open trailers for months on end. Now they sit in enclosed trailers and garages, and while at the track under awnings the sunlight exposure during the season is minimal. This amounts to an additional income stream for seat belt manufacturers, and now freight companies. $52 going and $52 return - plus the cert - wow! One more reason to add to the long list of reasons why people find other hobbies. It might be more cost effective to just buy new belts and sell the old ones to a circle track racer, if there are any of them still around. Question for Goob: Is Ho Lee Crap related to Sum Ting Wong? The company I work for ships a huge amount of parts every day FedEx with a corporate account, the difference in price for what they pay for say a 10# box and what the average person pays is insane. Shipping is Total rip off for over the counter consumers

Why not use USPS flat rate, if it fits it ships?

This is how shipping works. I have a commercial account for Trailer Toad with UPS, for about 15 years. Granted I do not ship a lot of parts with UPS as we also use USPS for smaller stuff. To ship two plastic fenders in a 32x18x12 box, weighs 7 lbs- average cost from Iowa to say, Tennessee, is about $65-$75!! More than the fenders cost, if I ship to either coast "FoGetAboutIt". Now- If I take them to a friend's stock car parts warehouse and he is OK to ship them for me- they average about $24-$34. Usually, it is more than 50% cheaper and UPS says I am getting a 40% discount! Its laughable and very sad at the same time. No wonder they are laying 18,000 UPS employees off.

I gotta laugh....you guys complaining about shipping costs......here in Alaska, it's a little different. I went to order a few specialty bolts from McMaster-Carr. Total was about $5. Box was literally 2x2x2 and weighed all of 3-4oz. Shipping via UPS was $110!! Yes, you read that right. I basically reamed them and now they ship to me via USPS which is the only reasonable way to ship things here until you exceed the max weight or size....and it's still expensive. My new converter from Chance is on it's way....only $171 in shipping! I have a business account through FedEx and I won't even consider them......they are even worse... What's even better, is if you overnight something. Typical delivery time for priority overnight is 2-3 DAYS....... Somebody has to pay for all those UPS drivers that brag about making $200k/year..... USPS is almost ALWAYS cheaper and just as fast.

Well for $133.80 and 2 weeks I have my Stroud cam lock belts back so I don't think you can buy a new set for that.

Nice! How many re-certifications are their belts eligible for?

My thoughts: USPS is 2 days even sending something next door, but often only 3 days sending across the country. UPS is next day for me for a number of surrounding states, but it’s 5-6 days ground across the country. So I like UPS if it’s close, USPS if it’s far.

Mark, I'm on my 3rd re-cert of my Stroud belts. I don't really know how many times they will do it though. Maybe Duck does. They are just a drive down the turnpike from me.
