B KINGI don't know how your guy's diapers are constructed, but mine does nothing to retain oil if a filter fails. BTW, I use a K & N oil filter.
This is my diaper before it was shipped out.

imakehpI had my diaper made so it hangs off the side frame rails on the dragster just so it can catch oil from anywhere the engine should spit it out.

My oil filter is located outside of the diaper. I use standard Wix or Fram racing filters.

WooleyB king, is that off the shelf diaper or custom made? I see it is from Dre. It looks to fit much better than the one I had before on my old tube chassis Vega.

markemarkI have one of the original DRE diapers on a sbc, fits very well, is easy to pull down the rear to do an oil change loosening the rear straps. The front sump cover is not tight fitting, and slopes to the front sump wall, allowing for slightly more capacity in the event of a failure. When I broke the engine, it not only held all the oil, but it held much of the water in the block that came out through the pan as well when stopped. It’s still on my engine for over 10 years and works as designed.

434 oldsAn easy solution to the oil filter blowing off, you do not need any more than 70 PSI oil pressure.

Nim RodHell I didn't know I was calling out a DRR faithful lol. Glad it happened when it did, but I don't think the staff was thrilled about it altogether.

329LI had a wix racing blow off on me late last season. Funny thing was, I had 35 runs on the oil change and filter. And until that point in my LIFE, i have NEVER had one come off.

Could you describe what “blow off” is meant? Come loose from the threads? Come apart at the seams? Split the metal casing?
Standard Wix filters are rated 285 psi burst pressure. Did the one you used have a by-pass valve?
August 29, 2023, 08:19 AM
Bill KoskiThe frame around the threads distorts enough that the pressure on the O-ring decreases and it comes out of the groove letting oil pour out.
Blew a couple of HP filters off years ago using 50 wt and a high volume Mopar pump in cold weather at start up.
TAKE IT TO THE BANK!!!!!

Curly1I try to pull the diaper up over the filter as much as possible but if the seal goes on it there is going to be a mess.

When i got car towed back to pits, it was roughly 1 turn from touching, and another half turn from tight. Didnt chance putting the filter back on, so put a new one on, and havent had an issue since that time, and have done 5 oil changes this year already. I will admit, I did rattle the tires pretty hard the round before.....
