Good find nims. Yes i put ALL of my oil on the track first time hit today. My brand new billet oil pump blew my $2 oil filter off.

ep- i did go to the tower and apologize to the race director for what it is worth and to the guys that had to clean that sh1t up.

Everything is good just made a-mess for the staff. Quite bit of oil clean up under car. It was a freak thing that happened and nobody is to blame.

Good thing it happened on the starting line and not down track. Canister type filters are a good choice for racing although I prefer disposable spin ons.

Many moons ago I had an oil filter do the same thing right off the starting line.

But I think the connecting rod that went through it had something to do with it.......

in over 30 years bracket racing, using Fram Racing oil filters, then Wix Racing oil filters and for the last 4 years K&N Racing oil filters, I've never had a an oil filter blow off. I'd like to know who's filter. As Mark alluded to, it could have been much worse. ep you sure it was tight?

Good for you clapping

If you don't mind me asking, what billet pump, how much pressure, and what oil filter brand?

My issue was with the oil filter adapter not actually the filter itself. It allowed the filter to lose seal. No harm no foul. I typically run wix or kn myself.

Agree. My adapter was the issue though not the filter. Although it was a cheap filter. My motor is fresh due to a cracked piston so the filter was the break in filter.

I agree!

Why a cheap oil filter on a break in pass?

I hope you have no internal damage. Good luck!

This happened almost 40 years ago but I still have a vivid memory of one of the starting line crew picking up the connecting rod laying on the track, he didn't hold it very long....... Laughing Hard

Likely a finer micron cut during the initial break-in. That was my rationalization for doing it.
