Do any of you use a Go Pro or other camera to monitor what's going on in a run? I would like check my gauges on replay. Looks like there are too many Go Pro's to choose from.

I have a data recorder for that but just about any of the Go-Pro cameras would work. I use a Roam2 for my race videos but you could get one of the Go-Pros that are a few years old at a discounted price and would work just fine. ____________________________ 2017 and 2018 Osage Casinos Tulsa Raceway Park No-Box Champion 2018 Div4 Goodguys Hammer award winner

We use a GoPro 10 with a remote to start filming after the burn out.

If it were me, and wanted video from inside the car, I’d purchase a bar mount and use my smart phone. Easy to set-up, record, playback and less expensive.

Windows 11 and GOPRO problems. For the GoPro users, have you been able to get the QUICK app? And if you did, could you get it working with windows 11" I have been using a GoPro HERO 4 Sessions for years with windows 10 with no problems.

I also have a data recorder but it's interesting to watch the video from a Go-Pro, used one a long time ago, this topic got me to thinking about doing it again. I see re-burbushed camera's advertised for less than $170, Joe's Race Products sells a roll cage mount for about $80. The smart-phone idea that Mark mentioned is a great idea and considerably less expensive. Just wondered how to (NHRA legally) attach it to the cage. Bob

The cheapest one you can find will be more than adequate for your needs. I have a GoPro camera that is probably 7-8 years old and was one of the lowest-end models of the day. The video quality is still amazing. The user interface isn't great and I need to re-learn how to use it every time I take it out. I haven't used it in a few years, probably, but it has been used as a "homeless man's RacePak" before. Search "action camera" on Amazon or eBay and you could probably get home for $50 or less. Cheap knockoff from Amazon works fine for data recording.

I film my runs for playback with my gopro. Couldn't tell you which model it is, Hero maybe? I highly recommend it tho, its great for watching runs back and data acquisition if you're low tech ------------------------------------ Not Hot Rod, not Super Rod, not Quick Rod, but the one and only NimRod

You can purchase a Bluetooth Remote Shutter to start and stop video recording on your smartphone from the drivers seat for under $10. Smart Phone CAGE MOUNTThis message has been edited. Last edited by: markemark,

I used a GoPro for years as a "poor mans" logger. Cant see the numbers but I know where the sweeps were on the gauges. The oil pressure, vacuum and fuel pressure were easily seen which is what mattered. Mine was and still is a 12 year old GoPro and works great. We mead an aluminum mount for it that was within reach easily. Here is an old sample from mine in S/ST https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aeu3Cd56kfE "I am not ashamed to confess I am ignorant of what I do not know." Marcus Tullius Cicero

I have a couple of GoPro hero session 5’s. I would recommend that as being very small, simple, with good video quality. I have an aluminum roll bar mount with a 1/4-20 boss tapped into it. The camera goes into an aluminum cage (like this) and an aluminum tripod mount (like this) . A small piece of threaded rod connects tripod mount to the roll bar mount, with a thumb screw on each side to lock it down. Now I have an insta 360 x3 which is pretty neat. It has a 1/4-20 boss right in the bottom of it so it integrates well with my current mounts. Can record in 360, then edit it and point the camera where you want after the fact, like this: https://youtube.com/shorts/Xke...?si=Fb_ZEROcSyIKyas_

This is a GoPro Hero 4 Session that I used years ago. Found it in the basement pile this afternoon and haven’t used it in years. Plugged it in and it charges and works. The only thing I couldn’t find is the charging cable and used one from an older smart phone. The manuals and software updates are available online. Little Chief , if you want this for free to include the free ride pm me your location and I’ll mail it.

That run was Sonoma years ago. Car that weekend in TT was going 160+. That run was 140 for the win. "I am not ashamed to confess I am ignorant of what I do not know." Marcus Tullius Cicero

Do you have a link for the these? I have used QUICK for years but can't find it on their site now. New laptop is Windows 11. Thank You.

I just use Windows Video Editor. It's free and easy enough to use. I thought the Go Pro software sucked.

Thank YOU CHampshire for the reply. I assume that Windows Editor is in their store. Ummm I am really slow at this stuff. Do you use the USB cord or pull that tiny card out and put it in a SD card reader to USB port? This new laptop with 11 is screwing me up big time. I had Racepak on the phone for over an hour yesterday while he straightened out Datalink. I have used it in other laptops for years without a glitch.
