Sry no its not my biutt this time. Addiction to cutting weight no matter the work is problem here. Spent 2.5 hours makiing aluminum stud for intake instead of steel ones. Save just under 3/4 lb. At $100 per pound rule of thumb the equal quite a bit less than I would take any construction job for by the hourly pay.Not to mention 20 bucks for aluminum. Then again I spent no money and had no jobs waiting to get to to get the money out of.
Trying to decide if need a weight cutters anonymous along with my James watt clinic for HP addiction and my John Browning clinic for gun addiction or just go with this one. Wonder if blue cross blue shield covers those? LOL
Beofe questioning this move. 8 7/16 aluminum studs hold a 14-71 blower making 50 blbs of boost on. Well until boom. 10 3/8 studs should have zero issue with sheet metal intake and MFI.This message has been edited. Last edited by: wideopen231,

It is joking about my addiction to cutting weight off car.My passion of sorts if cutting anything off and not spending money to save that few ounces. Will spend times the time to cut half pound as it wlould cost to buy something to save lb.

Haha my brother in law used to help me on my cars. When I was doing my dragster and making brackets he once said "are you sure that's going to be heavy enough?" I said "heavy enough?" Hell I was going to drill a bunch of holes in it now....."

I believe American Race Cars has a bunch of titanium stuff, if you want to get really silly.
Best (and shortest) press engagement I'd ever seen was at the PRI show years ago when IHRA was announcing a titanium company coming on as a sponsor. The owner said, "You don't need titanium, but if you have it, you'll go faster.", set the mic down, and walked away. LOL After an instant of dumbfounded silence, the place erupted with applause.
Oh I can drop a bunch with Frank Parks. Lot of weight and lot of cash and be even lighter. He has butt load of stuff to cut weight ti and mag. parts.
I am working on one piece that will cut 20 lbs. off car and cost about 100 bucks and bunch of welding gas and aluminum rod. still cheap for 20 lbs., Have long list of want to get and rich is at top after that it is all easy.LOL

I think last quote I could build wheelie bar out of ti and save few pounds for 1100 bucks doubt it is 11 lbs which IMO means its over priced weight savings. Plus Few engine parts that i figure would give beter bang for the buck. Pistons and rods and second engine would be ready and is about 60 ci bigger with 3:1 more compression. Yea need about 3k but pretty sure lot more thganb 30 to 40 lbs would give me. So maybe not that over the edge aboutcutting weight.

Titanium parts are for the pro classes and / or anyone with FU money. If someone thinks it makes sense to put a bunch of titanium parts on a car that you are trying to bracket race on a tight budget, they should go to their nearest Harbor Freight and invest in a 3lb hammer (item 70057, $14.99) & hit themselves in the head repeatedly until they realize what a bad idea that is. Walk through the staging lanes at a big bucks race during the split round and tell me how many titanium parts you see...

Agee and disagree. IMO main reason for doing this is enjoyment. If you enjoy any part of it then it is worth while. personally enjpoy the hell out of working on something and getting some weight off car. Even if spend too much time for return.
Now building ti wheelie bar instead of new rods and pistons that will net me .1 to .15 et reduction which woyuld require 150 to 200 lbs off would be bad idea. Spending 4 hours at night working in shop and cutting 1lb, instead of sitting on butt watching newsmax makes perfecgt sense.Mainly because I enjpoy it. No different than building a car out of chrome molly insted of mild steel could be called a waste, not IMO.
I have good amount of ti on car and most all of it cost me very little to nothing.
Nobodu said it made car more consistent.Unless you subscribe to lighter the car less power needed to run number and a slight power drop means less. Can niot argue lighter is faster given enough total reduction.
I rhink 20k for paint on race car stupid as hell. But if you want it . Should make car look damn good, not faster or more consistent either one. Yet lot of cars have high buck paint jobs.
