Does anyone know it the 1.25" push button fasteners can be taken apart? These look good on my deck lid but getting them to release is a pain. Would like to pull guts out and drill out for the old school push pull pin

Do they work like this? While you can pry them up to release, you can easily push them down further to get them to release. Hopefully I'm not being too basic here. Illegitimi non carborundum

They can be pulled apart. You need a spanner to unscrew the part holing the inner workings. I use one of these to hold down the cover of my air cleaner. I have to push down on the cover itself as I am pushing the button. Have you tried it like that? It takes some of the tension off of the latch part.

I think Monte has tried everything short of an air chisel. Larry Woodfin
