REPUBLICANS ARE A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will Rogers had it right when he said, “Every time Congress makes a joke it’s a law, and every time it makes a law it’s a joke.” If you keep that in mind you may be able to understand better what Congress, especially the House of Representatives, is doing. The House has passed repeal of Obamacare 42 times. I understand that the Republicans don’t like Obamacare, but once or twice would be enough to make the point, and 42 times is kindergarten stuff. It’s a political temper tantrum. I know, and I assume every representative knows, this action by the House will make no difference, the Senate, with a Democratic majority, is not likely to pass it, and if by some odd circumstance it should, the president will veto it. I can’t tell whether it’s a joke they hope will become a law or are serious and don’t recognize that by passing it 42 times it appears to be a bad joke. Now the House, facing an Oct. 1 deadline, has passed the bill to fund the government, but has attached to it a provision to defund Obamacare. That is illegal. Some federal funding is discretionary, but funding Obamacare is mandatory. All this leaves us facing the possibility that the federal government will shut down, it appears Monday. The Republicans have not offered a proposal of their own for health insurance. This seems to suggest that Republicans believe that health insurance and health care the way it was before Obamacare was fine. It wasn’t. We were spending 50 percent more per person on health care as any country in the world, and the World Health Organization says we are 37th in the world in quality of health care. Forty million Americans do not have health insurance. Apparently to Republicans in the House that doesn’t matter. After all, they have theirs. Some may think we save money by having 40 million uninsured. They do get some health care, often in emergency rooms, which is costly, but free to them.. Those of us who have insurance pay for that through higher premiums and copays. Republicans justify their opposition by saying polls show the public opposes Obamacare. This in part is because they have scared people with frightening statements about premiums. Yet a study by the Kaiser Family Foundation of 17 states and the District of Columbia where cost data are available found that in all but two places premium costs were less than the Congressional Budget Office had expected. A poll last year by Pew Research found that 71 percent did not like Obamacare, but that 38 percent wanted it repealed and 33 percent wanted it expanded. Opponents of Obamacare also are continuing attacks on the Canadian health care system. They need to deal with the fact that life expectancy is three years greater in Canada than in the U.S. It may be that the real reason for the strident Republican opposition, as the president suggested is that once Obamacare is functioning most people will not want it repealed. The House actions may simply be a last-ditch desperation effort.

"How can you be paying for it when it has not started yet???????" You are kidding, right?...$23.6 billion has already been appropriated to implement this law...Obama has already transferred another $500 million to the IRS for implementation...huge money has already been spent to get this mess started... "The details are in a Congressional Research Service report issued last October, “Appropriations and Fund Transfers in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).” CRS devotes seven pages to describing the billions of dollars that the Obama administration is now spending to implement the new law." Be careful when you call folks names, sir....

On Face the Nation, Speaker John Boehner was asked about his record of presiding over the least productive and least popular Congress in history. He responded by defending the obstructionist policies of far-right Republicans and said that Congress should be, "judged on how many laws we repeal." If you ever had any doubts, this confirms it — Republicans would rather obstruct than govern. The best way to stop them is to vote them out of office. Repubs have shut down the Govt. for their own selfish ways. Admit defeat and move on is the talk of even Fawx news. The repos can take over the leadership later and change the laws. Maybe they realize they cannot take over the leadership down the road. They have to contend with Hillary and they are running scared.

GREEN BAY — Republicans! There is only one party responsible and to hold accountable for our government shutdown. Republicans. All Republican “demands” should be and were handled by electoral and legislative processes. Democracy has not worked the way Republicans wanted, so now Republicans, by holding our future hostage, are bullying the President and the rest of us to meet their “demands.” There is no defense for such action. Deficit concerns by debt hawks is misplaced. Congress is responsible for budgets. Congress holds the purse strings. A president can offer a budget, but only Congress passes one. What Republicans are doing is hurtful and wrong. A government shutdown, among other foolish, unnecessary and harmful effects, will add to the deficit by deflating job growth. Lack of jobs and our inequitable tax system are far greater problems than spending is for our economy. Republicans forced the government shutdown. Let’s hold Republicans responsible for their destructive behavior. Vote those *******s out next election!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
