Iran ridicules Obama's "cowboy" nuclear strategy

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran's hard-line president on Wednesday ridiculed President Barack Obama's new nuclear strategy, which turns the U.S. focus away from the Cold War threats and instead aims to stop the spread of atomic weapons to rogue states or terrorists.

Obama on Tuesday announced the new strategy, including a vow not to use nuclear weapons against countries that do not have them. Iran, however, was pointedly excepted from that pledge, along with North Korea, because Washington accuses them of not cooperating with the international community on nonproliferation standards.

Mr. Obama, you are a newcomer (to politics). Wait until your sweat dries and get some experience.

Obama foreclosure plan leaves many out

A watchdog panel overseeing the financial bailouts says the Obama administration's flagship mortgage aid program lags well behind the foreclosure crisis and leaves too many families out.
The Congressional Oversight Panel says in a report released Wednesday that the administration projects only one million families will end up with lower monthly payments as a result of the program. The report says six million families are more than two months behind with their payments, and 200,000 more families receive foreclosure notices each month.

"Billions of taxpayer dollars will be spent and families will nonetheless lose their homes."

Foreclosure rates surge, biggest jump in 5 years

A record number of U.S. homes were lost to foreclosure in the first three months of this year, a sign banks are starting to wade through the backlog of troubled home loans at a faster pace, according to a new report.

RealtyTrac Inc. said Thursday that the number of U.S. homes taken over by banks jumped 35 percent in the first quarter from a year ago. In addition, households facing foreclosure grew 16 percent in the same period and 7 percent from the last three months of 2009.

The Obama administration's $75 billion foreclosure prevention program has only been able to help a small fraction of troubled homeowners.

Most transparent White House ever...

Police chased reporters away from the White House and closed Lafayette Park today in response to a gay rights protest in which several service members in full uniform handcuffed themselves to the White House gate to protest "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

People who have covered the White House for years tell me that's an extremely unusual thing to do in an area that regularly features protests.

A reporter can be seen in the YouTube video above calling the move "outrageous" and "ridiculous."

UPDATE: The Parks Police eventually relented, and allowed the press back.

"I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes."

Nice piece, has some interesting items there. It is leaned quite left in the "Assumption" areas. I do like the list of promises, but did you notice on most of the items that have anything to do with dollars the analogy of "the best case scenario" and "best case estimates" were used a lot? And it hasn't been updated in quite a while, look at some of the answers and see if you can't pick out at least 8 items that are wrong on the first 4 pages of the 13 that are there.
