A POLITICO analysis of hundreds of pages of state travel records requested to explore the circumstances of his affair found that in his six-and-a-half years as governor, Sanford traveled frequently and in a style markedly at odds with his political persona.

The records detail more than $468,000 worth of state-funded travel for Sanford and show that he routinely billed taxpayers for high-end airline seats, racking up more than $44,000 on business- and first-class tickets. He often stayed in pricey hotels that far exceeded the rates he imposed on other state employees.

On one overseas trip, the state appears to have spent more than $12,000 for the GOP governor’s business-class tickets for a September 2007 trade mission to China, while his aides flew in economy class for airfares as low as $1,900.

The records, released to POLITICO and a handful of other media outlets under the state’s Freedom of Information Act, cover commercial airline trips to destinations including Paris, Beijing, Stockholm, Munich and London, as well as state plane flights that carried him, his family, friends and staff around the state and country. They do not detail the costs of every international trade mission Sanford participated in, and in some cases, the documents are incomplete or difficult to decipher.

Still, the picture that emerges from the records conflicts with Sanford’s image as a politician who is especially stingy with taxpayer cash and vigilant about the costs of taxpayer-funded travel.

The taxpayers were footing the bills as he was banging his mistress while the wife and kids were at home.
He tootes himself as a conserv.

Bobby, what in the hell is your point?

You found a Republican that you can whine about. So What. We have those on both sides of the asle. Try posting something worthwhile. Make a valid point. Be useful. Add something to ANY conversation other than your silly little spoiled liberal opinion...................oh, that would be asking a lot, wouldn't it. Never mind.

The topic is Todays News................

My 2 posts were informational to the voters who put this non-family value man in office.
One of the BIGGEST hyprocites in the Repub party as the links to my valid points were identified.

I would suggest you add something constructive instead of attacking the messenger.

....oh, that would be asking a lot, wouldn't it. Never mind.

Be useful. Add something to ANY conversation other than your silly little spoiled neo far right extremist opinion

Bobby;

If you're so damn concerned about "informing the voters", why don't you inform the voters of EVERY bad politician out ther, not just the Republicans? Could it be that you are biased? Naw, not you.

Now then, any chance you can think of something original to say, instead of mimmicing me. Sounds immature. Something like "I know you are, but what am I".

One very good example of why the country is in the shape it is today:

In our small town, it was advertised that Ralph Hall, our Congressman, was going to speak. There was no indication of the little event being a "party" thing, just our Congressman coming over to speak.

Is this how it turned out? No. Oh indeed he did come to speak (to a small crowd) but the ones that came to hear him, were first greeted with a banner reading "Republican party gathering" and were then immediately lambasted with literature of how evil Obama is, how evil the Democrats are, how sacred the Republicans and what they stand for are. Several left. They had come to see a man who has a good voting record in Congress, who is their representative (irregardless of party affinity) but who just didn't want to be badgered by some people who are frankly, some of the "better than you are because I am a Republican" Johnny come lately recent immigrants to our community.

That is what is wrong with the Republican party. Their identity. People associate the Republican ideology with characters such as these, locally and on a national level.

I always and still believe that perception is the key, and the Republicans have a very bad perception problem due in most part to the high hat elitist people they surround themselves with. The same old aristocracy such as lived in France until the French Revolution. They went to the guillotine.

Bobby;

Again, what's your point. There ain't much difference between the parties...............except philosophy. Both sides have good guys and bad guys. Now you may not agree with the philosophy of the Republican party, but that doesn't necessarily make you stupid.............well, don't think it would make much of a difference, but that is a discussion for another day. So, anyway, we have nothing to add to the discussion except spin. Don't see the difference in what you post and anyone else posts on here. Post something to justify the use of cyber time and space. Remember, you are a liberal, you believe in "Green".

VD;

Like your buddy Bobby, that is YOUR spin. Other than being from the other side of the asle, what makes your spin any different than anyone else's on here. Come on. Post something valid about philosophy that makes sense, and supports your pathetic positon on things you probably don't understand

So Wes,
What did Ralf have to say? Did you ask him a question, you stated he had a great voting record so what does it matter if he is REp, Dem or Ind? You stayed correct?

If Muggs can't pass judgment on Bush yet, after 8 years and 8 months, he's going to have to wait until at least 2014 or 2018 to pass judgment on Obama right?

Good plan Bob H. Big Grin

Determination on Bush can wait, no final valid sources under this admin.

Obama makes it easy to make choice. He has no real inhibition about doing things that would divide/fragment country. At this point in both Bush terms, in my mind Bush was on positive side of ledger at about 30% bad/stupid/dishonorable/negative actions.

President Obama is at 80%. A change in position/apology/positive result could change this. Bush never exceeded 50% during both terms.

Clinton never went past 40%. Bush Sr. stayed around 25%, Reagan stayed under 10%. I did not have time to even consider during Carter.
