We run a ProCharger Top Dragster with 25 degrees of ignition timing going down the track. Engine make about 2000HP at 8000 RPM. I was wondering if any of the other ProCharger cars advance the launch timing arout 5 degrees or more and then retard it back to initial timing at the 60 foot ET? Looking to pick up the 60 foot times a little!

We typically need to pull timing in my car. Any reason your running so little timing? We run 28 degrees in ours. Mark Yeager

These were the best numbers on the dyno and safe A/F. We are three ol' guys and don't want to blow it up in a fast bracket race!

Can you get some ET be leaving higher on launch rpm? Mark Yeager

no, imo if you can advance your timing then your car isnt very aggressive down low...most have to kill et anyway so trying to gain some in the 60' doesnt usually make sense J.R. We run a 665 BBC with an F-3 Pro Charger on methanol. The motor was built by Reher & Morrison. David Reher told me not to run more than 20 degrees or it would melt pistons. I know of 2 other teams that have tried 23 and 25 degrees and both have burned pistons. I believe the fuel system is not able to deliver the amount of fuel to use more than 20 degrees. David has told me personally do not run more that 20 degrees on our Pro Charged motor. We also run another car with a 557 BBC on methanol, with a 14-17 PSI blower with Enderle style fuel injection system. We run this combination at 36 degrees and have not had any piston problems. I believe if more fuel could be added on the Pro Charged motor, more timing could be used.
