LOL, Charlie to me that kind of qualifying is what Top Dragster should be all about.

I know, I know not everyone can afford to run that fast, but not everyone can afford to run Pro Mod or T/AD or any number of other classes either.......................

Man I don't remember hearing anything like that. I was like "wow I'm 12 after the first session", and "crap I got bumped the third session, but I'm close!" And "holy cow 700 feet below sea level... How much can I push without hurting it?" Then "darn that was close, what a blast"....oh and "I didn't pack for 40 degree weather!"

Track was great, PDRA people were great, had a blast talking to the racers I hadn't seen since last season. Wish I was more aggressive on my tune up but that's on me. Heck two round wins in the bracket race won $1100 (split due to weather) so no complaints there either!

Very true...nice of the Oklahoma people to not beat me up for the Kansas pride thing...maybe less offensive to them then a Jayhawk Smile

By looking at my plugs and computer I think (with the weather) I could have been real close to that 4.08 (or slightly quicker)...a pulley swap (which I had) would have put me down there for sure. I'm sure if I ran that race a year from now (with a year worth of data on this combination instead of 6 passes) I would tune more agresive but like I said beside the cold weather I hadn't had that much fun racing in a lot of years. What a fun challange, both the driving aspect and tuning.

^^^^This, that is the part i like most about the class. The challenge of not knowing for sure if you brought enough or not. I really miss those day's out here in the West. Especially in D6 where it seems to always end up an all run field. I guess that is one of the biggest reasons i travel south to D7 . I know i know you D3 guys will all laugh.

Yup, that's what I really like about the PDRA deal, you need to bring all you got, and hope that's enough. It's popular with the racers because the PDRA staff is top notch, the prize money is good and the events are run very well.

NHRA D2 is almost always an all run field Roll Eyes and there's reasons for that, but we won't go into that here...........

Start hangin around Ronnie The King Davis , you'll hear all of that and more ... Eyes

Div 3 is fast because when your snowed in for 6 mo at a time , you can only try and make babie's for so long before you wanna be out in the garage.

Div 2 is all run cuz there is other stuff to do outdoors 12 mo out of the year ... Cool
We haven't recovered financially from the civil war yet ... Hum
The main instigator that made it fast has retired ... Wink

Div 2 wouldn't be all run if the field was 16 cars like PDRA...just saying! Or if Tubie was back. Ice Cream

We have the cars to make it an actual qualified field down here, but some of the no-shows have just lost enough interest (for various reasons) to keep them from the track on a regular basis. A few, like myself just didn't have the car ready in time. And some others (also like myself) are putting their efforts into other race series because the NHRA thing is not what they want. We also have an excellent heads-up series in Florida that is pretty popular with the faster T/D cars, that takes a few away from the NHRA races. Plus like Tubie said there are lots of outdoor activities down here that some people are involved in who would probably be more apt to race if they lived in another part of the country.

Not making excuses, just telling it like I see it.

A few years back , we had the Seminole Hard Rock sponsor our local Q-16 race @ Moroso/PBIR
$50 to enter $3000 to win a four round race. End of year points champion earned a $3000 dollar bonus.
Bump spots were usually in the 7.20 to 7.30 range.
All that was asked was to run the series decal and put on a good show.
Couple time that the driving force behind the program went out of town to run T/D at The Rock , Budds Creek , Norwalk , etc. some of the bottom feeders thought it would be cute to drag out qualifying to make a pass with a 100 shot for a tenth or two so they could pick up a few hundredth's or some would make one good pass and then run 7.90-8.00 in eliminations. The tower just went with what was on the car instead of a tenth from #16
Cant remember any of them ever ringing the bell or winning the championship.
The liaison to the Hard Rock had enough of it after a couple of years and walked away .
The program is now ... Sleep

The cure for that would be to make it a heads up deal like at Bradenton.
