What would you do or not do? This is our local points race series for the year so far (7 races). We have 5 more races to run depending on what happens with the schedule. Only 9 races are counted, your 3 lowest races dropped.

This is what I did & one other racer did the last 2 races. 1st round is basically who you line up with. We waited in the back of staging for the 1st place guy to try & line up. Would you do the same, something different or focus on your own races?

I'm the one currently in 2nd.

I would run your races as you get them as long as you can and ignore other distractions. But there comes a time where I feel like taking matters into your own hands can be an advantage. You don't want him to spend his races getting ducks and gaining more points. So trying to start snagging him early has some merit. We have certainly done that.

I don't know how they pull there. But we started running into a problem years ago at my local track. A few guys that would race for points would pull up next to buddies who weren't running points in the first round. The guy not in the chase would take a first round dive in exchange for the other fella paying for the buyback. There was even splitting of the purse mid and late rounds just among them. When the track started using chips to pull pairs, that all but stopped. It's just too random. You can try to snag someone by pulling behind them. But your odds of getting them were reduced quite a bit.

Thanks for the inputs guys. This year I wasn't planning on running for a championship. It was supposed to be a race program updating year & getting a major surgery done.

That being said, in the past when in the points lead. I would just continue doing my thing & it worked out. Now, in the past when not in the lead. I would go head hunting & it never got me the championship. Maybe I have the answer in the last statement.

The track should eliminate you being able to sit back and pick your opponent. Cars should be randomly lined up as they pull into the lanes in my opinion.

The guy in 1st has 4 stellar races, 68-81-81-81 but you only have 1 so from a percentage standpoint on paper he's a better racer so I don't race him right now, mosttimes our ego's are better than our skills Wink . Way back in the B&M series I used to watch guys avoid Scotty, it was a skill in it's own!!

Which brings me to a funny story, the late Steve Taylor and his wife Brenda would both race their cavaliers, I watched as Steve, from the lanes, wave off Brenda so she backed up and parked between two trailers waiting for him to call her so just for schitts and giggles I pulled my dragster behind her car boxing her in and got out and walked away and watched as Steve was jumping up and down in the lanes franticly waving her to come up...funny as hell!

I agree, but they don't do that. I was actually able to get paired up with the guy in the staging lanes for 1st round at one race. A guy a couple cars ahead in my lane pulled out of the lanes, so it didn't happen. Realistically, it's hard to pick your opponent with the amount of cars & a potential bye being pulled out for 1st round. 2nd round we go on a ladder.

The guy is a great racer & has great year going. We have raced each other twice this year. I beat him in the finals & he won the round with the other race. I'm not the type to avoid any racer based on who they are or are not.

Our track has us fill 4 lanes and random draws for opponents and lane. With that said I'm okay with trying to race the guy. I tried to get the guy leading at our track, I was in second, but it doesn't work out well because it's random. I love the added pressure of racing the guy ahead of me and I also enjoy when I'm that guy someone trying to take me out. I've had bounties on me and it's a blast.

His track is setting things up for this to happen. It also allows guys to cherry pick less skilled racers. I would hate to race somewhere that does it that way because some guys will duck hunt. Personally I prefer rolling up against the best there. Doesn't always work out but that's just me.

Kinda like Greg Anderson last year trying to get Erica in the first round. I loved it but many didn't.

I would probably do as you did. I should just race my deal and let it work itself out. I have found that when you go after one, you tend to screw yourself by doing something stupid. Seems you focus too much on them and not on your job, winning rounds. You win rounds and you win all around.

Track I used to race at had 2 brothers that would park their car, only had one, at the head of staging and one would go up in the lanes and call the other up as soon as they saw a duck. They won a lot of races that way.

The track has nothing enforcing the staging lanes and you can do it so why not? Your going to make plenty of people mad, but who cares if you'r fighting for a championship do whatever you deem necessary within the rules of the track. Now if the track manager(s) come to you and say don't do that, then you might need to get a little more creative but it still can be done, just don't get yourself kicked out.
