6061 is a softer Aluminum and less brittle alloy than the 7075 is. Different horses for different courses. Both may work but one may be better for certain uses. Engine limiters whether they are on motor plate or transmission have become more important as power levels go up and tires have got better. After literally thousands of runs in the last 6 years, I will stick with the steel mid plate in every dragster we have. I WANT the chassis stable in that area of the car that DOES see a ton of flex. I agree, the engine limiters would eliminate problems if they did crack something else or the mid plate itself. | |||
