Summit has the ATI case and bellhousing for 829. Thats the cheapest i have found. Any problems with the ATI case? | ||

I just bought a FTI case (the two piece deal) back at the WFC July 4th weekend. $700 and they tossed in a couple of shirts. I would call them and at least check to see what kind of deal you can get. | |||

I have had both the ATI and a Reid case. Not knocking ther ATI case but I think the Reid is a nicer case, the casting and over all machine work is better IMO | |||

The Reid case is a permanent mold process if I remember correctly. All of the cases mentioned will work, just keep in mind the two way shipping charges and time delays when you have to send it back to be re-certified. If you live nearer to the east coast ATI, Transmission Specialties or JW would be a better choice and if you live nearer to the west coast shipping a Reid case would be less expensive. One last comment would be to check the weight of each case, I know that one of them is a bit on the heavy side. Just a suggestion: Bob | |||

No need to recert, I posted a 4 year old case for sale on FB for $600 and sold it to a grudge racer who can care less about a cert in 10 minutes so my new case was only $300 | |||

Everything that bolts on the platform (case) are considered components. The difference you'll see when bolting the bell component on a Reid two piece in comparison to others, is the system of attachment between the platform (case) and component (bell) adds to the integral strength of the platform (case) and component (bell). Considering all the aftermarket cases are a huge step up from a stock case, if you see a Reid two piece in a dragster, it only means the owner went the extra mile for the Cadillac. Strength is always the most appealing to the eye's drag racing IMO. Perceptions may vary according to what you're privy to. I run a Transmission Specialties aftermarket, it looks a lot like a Reid one piece. | |||

Could you post up the engineering data to support that a 2 piece case is stronger than a single piece? I would like to study that. I've been racing with stock cases with blanket from Rossler for years at 9.0-9.1s - what are the advantages other than strength. Never broke a case or anything. 1.24-.26 60ft times in a 3500lb car. Configuration: 3350#, 582 C.I., 60 - 1.24 1/8 - 5.53@ 126MPH 1/4 - 8.73@ 159MPH 3700#+210lb driver, FULL interior, through mufflers, 10.5 tire. 60'-1.333 (IN 4000ft DA! Joisy Math excluded; 1.25sec using JOISY MATH.) 1/4 - 9.60@144MPH | |||

Strength is the main thing. Plus they look a ton better without shields or blankets on them. I have never broke one either but have seen plenty broke. Also stock cores are getting hard to come by and expensive. | |||

I use the CSR shield and on my roadster it is really tough to get to the bottom side bell bolts. Worse case scenario is the converter exiting the vehicle. That would be another advantage of going with a two piece Reid, you can always bolt a steel can bell if needed. https://youtu.be/8J-V-OxxxNI Like I said I run a one piece case.
