Put the 29 air bleeds where the 40's are now.

Ok here is an update.

Last night I went over carb and checked things out. The arms were tight as I set them before straight off idle. With this setting it stumbles if I "rev" the motor to about 2000rpm, set brake and mat it. I usually do that when staging the car as it bumps in easier. stumbles every time if that is done.

I then tried to just mat it from an idle and it came up perfect every time. No adjustments made at that point.

I did try to loosen the arms on the primary and secondary after to see if that helped with the "off-idle" matting. It still stumbled and I had the arms set where they were just touching at about 2100.

Long and short if the carb is off idle it stumbles. If it is at idle 1200 or so it works perfectly.

Hopefully, that gives some ideas to remedy the situation.

Two big races this weekend and then bracket finals starting next week - so I dont want to change anything radical and cause another issue. My plan is to just back back to idle after staging and then mat it from there.

Put the 29's where the 40's are and the 40's where the 29's were. Then check for stumble.

If there's no stumble order some 29's from APD to put back permanent where you have the 40's.

Have you looked at the pump cam shape and location to get the pump shot where you want it? Just another thing to look at that isn't too radical.

Update from the weekend.

Friday hit T&T after playing with it in the driveway. Think I have it pretty good works good every time off idle. Car with the throttle enhancer stalls everytime and afraid to monkey with it too much with Sniper Series race and Bracket finals this week.

Get there and first hit off idle the freaking car cuts completely out and stalls. I back up and give it another go - this time increasing the idle and it comes up fine??

Go back to the pits and move arms so they are now touching at idle again. Rest of the weekend it had just a slight hesitation. Backed out the idle adjustment as the one fella there claimed on these APDs you can back them out 3.5turns without worries? I backed it out about another 1/4 turn it seemed fairly happy - not perfect but manageable.

I left it there for the remainder of the weekend.

I won the no-box class and lost in the in the combining rounds with box cars before the finals.

Next race went another 4 rounds.

I will work on it more along with a call to APD. I still intend to try a few of the other things listed here. But not sure if my comparisons at home in higher elevation is comparable after it worked at home off idle then stalled on the first hit. Unless I am hitting it much harder at the track than at home. LOL.

I was struggling with the same thing. I had my enhancer set around 2500 to get it to come up clean. Wanted to try a little SC racing so I had to fix it.
My carb was
High .024
Idle .038
Int .038

Took my idle down to .025 and it fixed my stumble. I'm going to run the double divisional at VMP like that then try going back up a little on the bleed.

Please understand that I looked all over for bleeds but came up short. Yes, I could have moved the one over but that wouldn't have helped on race day as I needed to move them back...

I ordered some .024 last night from Summit to put in Wednesday and hopefully that will help.

Everyones input is much appreciated!

2 pages about a stumble when matting the pedal and/or when the SLE is engaged. Didn't think of that

Show up at Numidia and if I haven't fixed it before your first hit, I will by your second hit and all you owe me a post here thanking me.

No stumble, when matted, no shutting off with the SLE engaged

You hear that Sky_down_it? Don't listen to the guy who's first Bo Laws methanol carb had brass metering blocks and who also won 7 Super Pro Championships in 10 years in Florida, on a 10" tire with a street car.

Instead drive to Ed in Pennsylvania, so he can put a bigger squirter in it first hit, and a smaller squirter second hit.

2 pages, still stumbles and no mention of "when I talked to APD about the carb for my new engine combo".

You made a fairly large change in your engine. You can go with the guy from NJ or the guy from FL and see which pissing match wins 1st or I would suggest talking to the folks that built the carb to see what needs changed for your new combo.

I think the majority of people can't read or comprehend the conversation, or both. Then they read the last two posts to come to a conlusion.

The fix was posted weeks ago, free of charge.

Remedies are completely different methanol. Anyone with methanol experience knows this already.

At the bracket finals. .024 air bleeds came in. Put them in with a small adjustment to idle screws.

Car immediately comes up on chip perfectly.

Thanks Mike and others that suggested it. This definitely fixed the issue. Car also picked up .02 in 60ft last two runs to run within .002 overall. Wasn't expecting the gain but have tons of data to say it shouldn't have but did last two runs.

Will see if it stays. Car sounds better to.
