Oil Samples

I received an e-mail from Blackstone Laboratories yesterday letting me know that their charges for oil samples (individual, not bulk) are increasing to $40. This is understandable given the inflation rate.

I stopped sampling my race oil in 2021 but did send a sample in July 2024 when I switched oil brands going full synthetic to see what’s in the oil. I was surprised it took over three weeks to get the results e-mailed to me.

They are only 40 miles from me so I use them and I have no problem with the cost to see if there is something out of of the normal $40 vs $7K or so for a short block is ok w me

I changed to Polaris labs after many years with Blackstone. IMHO a better value and their Horizon App is first class for reviewing your historical test data.

I use the Schaeffer Oil lab and I am looking into the Oil Geeks lab. I think the Oil Geek will give suggestions and not just numbers. I will find out this Spring.
