I got it all back together, had it running and warming up to verify fluid level, and noticed fluid on the floor around the output shaft. It looks like it is coming out of the center of the yoke, it is not on the tailshaft housing but seems to be dripping out of the u-joint area. I did some research and the possibilities are overfull, (about 8qts in it, full mark on dipstick) an O-ring inside the yoke??, or blockage in drain hole in tailshaft. I am going to re-configure the trans vent because the dipstick tube contacts it and may be part of the problem. Any other things I need to inspect? Onca again, thank you for all your assistance and experience.

Wait a minute. You mean to tell me glides aren't suppose to leak? SOB.
I have leak at fronmt pan rails I can not stop. I think cooler mounted above dtains back and over fills pan, noit that is should leak anyway. I and made a trap so line is above cooler, No help. I have checked rail with file for flatness and tried different gaskets. Finally said screw it it is slow leak very slow. I just drain pan ands pour into jug, qwhen rerady to go to track dump back in. IOt is what it is for while.
I figured like Panhead and Shovel head, if not leaking better check it,[prpobably low or out.

If it was just seeping or dripping, I wouldn't be concerned, but it had about a 4" puddle after 5 minutes or so. I don't want to be that guy at the line that oils down the track. I'll pull the yoke, maybe verify the drain back inside the tailshaft is clear, drain a quart out, warm up and re-check it. I did move the fill tube away from the vent but I think I'm still going to run a hose up to a catch can.
Thanks.

Put a vacuum pump on it.

They always stop leaking as soon as they run out of oil!

I've seen this before. The pan gasket and/or pan itself is blocking the drain return from the tailhousing. So it fills up the tailhousing and finds a leak path.
I've seen this most commonly with the thick plastic gaskets with rubber inserts made by Moroso and Speedmaster (especially Speedmaster). Also seen it in the thick silicone gaskets.
I only ever use the thin paper/composite gaskets and never have leaks in years of building. This message has been edited. Last edited by: CSRacing,

Aftermarket pan, thin gasket. I guess anything's possible. About an 1/8" hole in the center of the yoke. I have 2 other yokes, for smaller u-joints, neither has a hole.

There's no oil in the output shaft so the only way you're getting out out the yoke is if the tailhousing is overflowing.

OK. I thought there would be some lube for the rear bushing. I'll pull it apart again and check it out. Thank you.

Pulled tail housing, just a very small amount of fluid in it, must be draining. Plugged the hole in the yoke, backed out of the garage to try a launch and found that the carb problem wasn't fixed after-all. If it ain't one thing, it's another!!

In years past during qualifying I had the plug blow out. Spit fluid everywhere. C ring popped out at the plug. Yes mine had a lock. JB was sent to the rescue.

I just put some threadlock on a short sheet metal screw and ran it in.

When you ran that screw in it could cause the screw to hit the tailshaft when the yoke moves in.

Thought of that, but, short screw, recessed center of output shaft, and the shaft doesn't reach all the way into the yoke.
