I got my vega done and went to test. Didnt sound right warming up . I done a burn out still didnt feel right. Launched it and it spit and sputtered all the way down the track. Brought it home pulled valves covers looked good. Checked and replaced plugs, ran a compression check was ok. Then tried to set timing and it was all over the place couldnt get a number to really see. Any Ideas? Before I went to the track I set tinming at 35 and it sounded great.

Just pulled distributor gear looks fine. Im gona try another distributor.

I just changed distributor and that was it..

Did you change plug wires also? Did you remove the cap to see if anything was loose or broken?

It was the little gear that turns against the magnet was spinning.

And I hope you did not set the timing at idle. 4k min, takes all the slack out of the gears,oil pump loading, etc
