One says start at neutral, then adjust passenger side bar upward, then raise car to where you can insert the bolt.
Another says start at neutral, then adjust passenger side bar downward, then lift bar to where you can insert bolt.
Maybe this should be a poll?

Op, you can achieve positive pre-load from either the driver, or passenger bar.
Lower the bar driver side
Raise the bar passenger side
I presume, this is what the person you're reading, meant to say OP.
If you have one going right (low horsepower anything below 1000-1100 HP), as a last case scenario, positive pre-load can fix it to go straight, out of the gate.

Another better adjustment to fix one going right is to run the rebound adjuster a couple clicks tighter on the driver side, and the compression the same, a couple tighter on the passenger.
You can also run the rebound looser on the passenger front damper, in conjunction with the staggered adjustments on the rear, mentioned above.
Putting the rear end in a bind - pre-load, is a last resort.

On level ground remove right side bolts, jack right front up to match left front travel and install bolts. Works every time!

You may want to look at corner weights and ride height on all four corners. Alot of time I will shim the lf coil or raise lf coil over depending on set up to get ride height close with driver in seat. That puts weight back on rr tire and the usually very litle preload is needed.
